Ha! Was I pre-anticipating some romance as I mentioned it in my last review I thought hehe. Another great chapter mate. Thanks again. Now a comment not a spag ok...
I loved this expression of yours..."He horsed the carriage"

Oh, my goodness. Now we have a romance brewing. I hope Leopold doesn't come charging in to kill Julia and Florentina. More wrong and deaths can be attributed to religion than most wars. Great story-telling, mikey.

No errors and enjoyable, Mikey. Not much more I can offer. Sorry.
A lot of 'son', but it actually works well, as it strengthens the character through his way of speaking.
Why did I say that? Oh dear. I shouldn't have blurted that out... -- Good!

This is taking some intriguing twists, with the Bishop's visit. Mikey, did you research this period? I'd be curious to know your sources -- only because of the authentic "feel" of your book.
but the smiled disappeared [but the SMILE disappeared.]
Interesting! I'd have thought Cassius to be much too young to have a romantic interest in Lourdes. This was probably just a misperception on my part.
Great addition, Mikey.

Excellent chapter. Leopold continues to worry me. I fear he is going to take things into his own hands and do something terrible. I do hope I am wrong. I like the addition of love into the story. I look forward to the young couple getting to know each other better.
