Heh-heh-heh... An excellent little terror tale, told in perfect poetic form, of course, from you, Sandra. How delightful, the little scamps got to scare their poor old gramps, LOL.

Although this has some spookily eerie undertones, I still think it is suitable enough for children to read. Heck, many of them watch that show, GOOSEBUMPS these days, so why not?

An excellent poem, perfect for the season. :}

What a great poem for Halloween. You have created the perfect atmosphere for this familiar group of trick or treaters to appear.

This is a pleasure Marilyn and I must enjoy vicariously because our great grand kids live so far away. When our children were young, one of Marilyn's greatest pleasures came from elaborate trappings of the season, which made our home a scary place. How I wish we could relive those distant days.

Love and Irish Hugs still await all who visit our humble abode this Halloween and we will act scared, if any young ghouls or witches knock on our door.

I love the transition from "impending doom" to the innocence of children and trick r treating that Halloween provides.

I also like the spooky imagery you set up before with the candle flickering and the clock ticking - very Halloween-esq.

Nicely rhymed a/b/a/b poem in iambic pentameter - the lively pace just flowed.
I really liked the adorable twist at the end.
At first, I thought I was getting a vampire (garlic) theme. lol
The "frisky grandpa at Halloween ending" was endearing.
Well done.
