I have never experienced such pain, but know people who are totally debilitated as a result of them. I thought your poem described the feelings very effectively and created a sense of screamingly, excruciating pain. Sorry for your current pain. Get well soon.

Hi Teresa,
Truly a most excruciating account of a migraine headache,
and both eerily and alarmingly conveyed in your most
compelling poem and visual.
Fortunately, I have not ever suffered from migraines,
and while your shoulder surgery and anesthetic used,
might have a bearing as an after effect, causing these
nightmares and migraines; I would suggest you go see a
good Neurologist as soon as you can. Best not to delay
or second guess what is the cause.

I work in the Holistic/Naturopathic Health field, and
there is a supplement called 'FEVERVIEW' that is specifically designed for migraines. It works for most
people I know who have tried it (friends, etc) it lessens
the severity of migraines and decreases the returning
episodes of them considerably. So you might give them
a try...you can get this supplement at most bigger chain
drug stores or Health Food Store. It is a natural based
supplement with no side effects, so it can't do any
harm if it does not help. Take care and do check out
a good Neurological tests done by a qualified Neurosurgeon.
Prayers and best wishes .....Ronni

Ronni, thanks for your review. I also really appreciate the suggestion of Feverview. I had looked into that but didn't know anyone who had tried it so I haven't tried it yet. Thanks again.

Teresa;
I do know of one other that had a migraine and she explained it somewhat like yours but not as gifted and imaginatively written as you have exposed the meaning of a migraine. The imagery of your writing is so distinctly descriptive and horribly expressive throughout your tormented feelings: "I close my eyes and see Kaleidoscope callers as the room spins, crazy like a playground merry-go-round...". What a horrible feeling for someone to have
and I could see why you are in the dark to hide from the extreme displeasure of light.
I'm sorry for your migraines and truly hope that your feeling much better soon. I only have strong headaches but I can imagine having a migraine.
Thank you for sharing and posting and may the Lord soothe your migraines soon.
Alex

My migraines began at age 18, came around 3-4 times yearly and ended with menopause. You have described it exactly. I could stand no movement, no light, no noise. Finally, they prescribed a medication to spray up my nose and it worked.

Mine started at about age 40 but are at the worse ever - I am now menapausal age (53) but had a hysterectomy 10 years ago but who knows maybe they will go away when I pass menopausal age. Thanks for the great review.

Although thankfully I very rarely get headaches, never mind as severe these ones, so my sympathies Teresa, my sister-in-law gets them badly, and it restricts her to sleeping in a darkened room for days on end, well done, well presented, well written and composed, hope you get well, blessings, Roy.

I hear of many who are debilitated for days like that. I just won't let myself be debilitated that long. The last one was so bad I couldn't go to work in the morning but that is as long as I would allow myself - was back to work at noon. Thanks for the great review.

Wow. A vivid description of your migraine headache. I have never had one but I have friends that can't function until it goes away. Hope yours does soon! Take care. 8-)

Thanks for the poem , as will keep you on my prayer list...And, darn it, it is unreal, to have a migraine & used to have them really bad.... Had some bad teeth taken care of & went through my change, which is bad enough & they disappeared. Though occasionally might get one....It seems a visit to your doctor might be in order, if they persists, as it can be something else, entirely, besides your shoulder healing, I hope that is doing nicely, & they might have to run some tests.

Take Care.....C.

I'm so sorry that you are in so much pain. I was that there was something that I could do. I can almost feel the pain when I read this poem. It's very well written and has very vivid imagery. Nice work.

An excellent description of a migraine! I've never had one, but I've had "regular" headaches where the room felt like it was spinning. My son has had them and he says it doesn't hurt, but he sees stars for up to thirty minutes.

The picture adds to the "kaleidoscope" feelings of dissociated senses.

Excellent poem!

Cheers,
DW

If your son has no pain, it is called ocular migraines - it only effects the vision for a short while. Thanks for the great review.
