All those riches, gold, statues and land- the Roman Catholic church was in many ways and arm to extend Roman power after Rome itself fell. I like the touch with the goblet passed down, makes history, Julia's visions, more concrete. And yes, the Roman' s killed Jesus, not the Jews. Wish more would see it that way. There would be a lot less antisemitism in the world.

Mikey, I know that this is fiction, but I do want to mention that Jesus was called Christ or the Messiah by Peter when he answered Jesus' question who am I and said You are the Christ (meaning Messiah) the Son of the Living God and is in several scriptural references. The fledgling Church of Christ followers was not responsible for His death. Jewish Pharisees the religious institution in the form of traditions, OT writings, and the Law, and Romans worked in tandem to accomplish God's answer to man's sin on the cross. Both these powerful groups stood to benefit from shutting Jesus up. Just a finer point on the history of the Christian Church. Very interesting story line development as the two come closer in this new time experience. Well done. :0 GracieAnn

oh, I see. I was thinking that the term "Christian" came after the crucifixion and started in foreign lands. I was thinking more of the name of the religion itself. Glad you are following. I don't want to become too detailed as an inaccuracy isn't good! But, I want to get a feel for the attitudes etc of the times. I appoint you my historical mentor. Great discussion here. Now I'm curious who the actual people were at the crucifixion that are now Leopold and Thurston. A follower and a Pharisee perhaps.

That is what I had in mind. I'm trying not to name anyone specific. I had Caiphus and Nicodemus in my head though. Not sure who Julia was maybe Cousin Mary. They were both a couple of famous people in the original story. I haven't looked at that since the second page. :)

Michael: My daughter is studying world history. So of course as a good mother, I am helping her since she is slammed with cheerleading and football games. The difference between the dark ages and the middle ages is that the dark ages had no books to be read. Middle ages encouraged reading and learning. The king could not read or write so he had his scholars to help keep records and govern with letters.
Your story is well written and a touch of the past with Jesus thrown in, we were there! The fued goes on. Maybe, the Father could point out in the Bible, thou shalt not kill. Proverbs 4:20 is God's medicine bottle that Ken Hagin studied and from the death bed to being a preacher, he became. Maybe, the word will help you in the story. Glad that Father is stepping up to help.

Julia is beginning to see the wisdom of hiding some of her actions and beliefs. The church is powerful. To kill witches helps them to keep the general population under control. They have a helper from the church. Sometimes a draw is the best outcome. Keep both sides from each other until one side can be more reasonable. Great work.

Interesting discussion between them all, the one who should know least knows most, but she is headstrong and has to be tamed for her own good. The fact that you as a writer can switch to entirely different themes in your stories is the sign of an excellent writer. You write convincingly on whatever topic. Most enjoyable. faye

Fascinating conversation. You continue to do a marvelous job conveying the difficulty they all face in protecting these girls. How frustrating for both the reader and characters in the story. Thurston was clearly shocked by what she said. -- A little bit on the telling side, which you usually don't do.
