What a fun non-horror poem. He make a wonderfully cute monster.
I love watching young children at Halloween, their antics as well as their choices of costumes.
My favorite line is, " too busy with smiling..."
This is a great poem to share with kids.

A ghoul ought to partner with hairy bugs,
not comfort the neighbors in need of hugs -
Our monster loves kindness, which isn't good
for kids who want scares in our neighborhood

a great light-hearted poem, Brooke - that made
me smile and the picture's a real treat. He's
growing fast!!

My goodness how Sawyer has grown! He is such a charming lad Brooke and of course he isn't the horror of Halloween night! He's much too sweet for that! Loved the story! xoxo deborah

hey, 2 costumes, not fair, I only had one. lol Good concept for this poem. Sawyer just can't be that scary guy, it just isn't in him. lol The neighborhood will just have to find another. Great poemly story and great rhyming as always.

Thanks so much, Lulube - my daughter is a bit on overdrive when it comes to clothing her son. LOL :-) Believe me, she and her brother only ever had one. :-) Brooke

Dear Brooke, Thank you for this warm and loving poem. Sawyer is so cute. He looks like he is having a great time. I don't know what Gracie is going to be yet. Thanks for sharing, Shirley

I guess you just have to face it Brooke, Sawyer is not up for the job of being scary. He has better qualities. But I am sure he is enjoying playing with his outfit on. He looks the part.

well written

Mary, thanks so much. Last year the same thing happened when he was a lion. His roar was not exactly scary LOL :-) Brooke

A cute little Halloween poem with the non-monster-like antics of Sawyer humorously expressed. Favorite verse.
No smile puts the "happy" in Halloween,
a time meant for grimacing, grim and mean -
a ghoul's not in business to help me sleep -
if I want a nap I can count some sheep!

costume, oh my! The pressure is on Sawyer. which to wear on Halloween!!?!??
Waiting for the next picture. Smiles, Robin :)

Thank you, Robin, for your thoughtful review :-) He has so many events they attend during October - various parties and parades and pumpkin festivals - so he gets to wear both costumes plenty LOL :-) Brooke

I like this neon green monster with one big eye. But you're right. He's ruining the reputation of Halloween as a scary night. Love the verbal image of a creature hugging a neighbor.

Oh my goodness. Could this child be any cuter? Yes, I know, you are his grandma. Well, too bad, he is just a happy little green one eyed monster. Poem good too.

Thank you so much, Granny - no, it is not humanly possible to be cuter LOL :-) Brooke
