As usual you create a wonderfully entertaining poem from one of Miranda's many pictures. Perhaps Sawyer is setting a new trend. Sure is my kind of monster!

This poem represents the spirit of Halloween so well to the way children perceive it. It brings back many good memories of my favorite time of year, and I just love the balance between how monsters should be and how the child acts.
Good job!

I would like to be scared by this monster.
After he scares me I'd love to pick him up
and take him home, he's lovely no matter
what he is, an angel or monster.
Have a wonderful and scary Halloween with
your lovely monster.

Well, that's certainly not the picture of a scary monster. So cute, Brooke. Right down to the shoes. Yep, the kid sure has style! LOL!
I enjoyed the rhymes, the easy flow. Good reading. Well done, Brooke.

Just looking at his cute little face and seeing him in this costume brings back so many memories of my children at this age.. makes me a little sad.. enjoy him, as I know you do! Your writing alone tells me that! They grow up so fast.. thanks for sharing..

This is just a great poem for Halloween, and Sawyer is the best monster that could ever be. What a terrific costume! I like it.
You want a monster that growls, and scares kids. You want screams in the dark, but Sawyer only gives hugs. He's like a white witch.
You've turned him into a hero, that's what you've done. But Halloween isn't for heroes. It's for ghouls, monsters, and hairy bugs!
I love the playfulness and alliteration of
"goofy grin"
Some more alliteration with
"growl and glare"
"gruesome and gory" ... a lot of "g" words!
"grimacing, grim"
"neighbors in need"
My second favourite line,
"if I want a nap I can count some sheep!"
(My favourite is "Instead he insists on that goofy grin -")
What a perfect picture of little Sawyer!
Thanks for sharing this one, Brooke. It picks me up after a difficult day.

That goofy grin will probably get him more treats. This is really clever. We do have expectations for how we expect our monsters to behave. They must groan and grimace. I love the clever humor in this. Excellent AABB rhyme, and it moves along charmingly. Great line about the ghoul out to partner with hairy bugs. Nice alliteration (goofy grin, for one) Lots of fun in this. judi

judi, thank you - yep, we have expectations - can you imagine waiting in line for the roller coaster only to get a leisurely, smooth ride? LOL :-) Brooke

You're so welcome, Brooke. I remember the horror and sci-fi movies when I was a kid. There had to be a monster behind the door. judi

What a fun, upbeat, positive take on Halloween, and the picture adds pizzaz to the message.
Friendly monsters -- what is the neighborhood coming to.
Excellent, with wonderful rhymes and great imagery.
