I truly believe young readers would enjoy this poem, Brooke, about jack-o-lanterns and friends "who watch your back."
Good description of all the ghoulies that Jack scares off.
The cadence and rhymes are flawless and really make this poem work.

The imaginary friend and protector that I'm sure we all dreamed up as toddlers. But I swear he was there to cover my back when calamity struck as the pendulum sang the tune of the midnight hour . Well done, Brooke.

Jack O'Lantern seems to be a very handy man to know. I wish somebody would have my back in this way. I suppose there are a few people I could call on if required, but I like to fight my own battles.
