Adewpearl, I like the images of giants and eagles. I like your rhymes. I don't understand Lee Humpwhistle. But, as always your poems fly high! flylikeaneagle

thanks so much, flylikeaneagle. Lee, the top rated short works author on this site, roots for the NY Giants while I root for the rival Philadelphia Eagles. Last night my team trounced his team and I was gloating after we made a bet on the game. LOL :-) Brooke

It certainly humorous, except I'm not a sports fan and not too familiar with Lee's writings, so I am kind of lost here.
Anyway, the poem itself reads well. Evi

Evi - this doesn't really relate to his writings - it is about some trash talking he did to me about my team, his team's rival, in the hours leading up to my team's huge victory LOL I'm just gloating as I rub in his team's loss :-) Brooke

Well tehn go ahead and thump your chest. Lift high your chin in disdain. Look down your nose at the lesser ones. Crow and prance like a peacock. You won and they lost, your gamble paid off and they all paid the cost. No need for further struggle, there is no need for strife. Do not hang your head and cry for this is also the stuff of life.

This poem is enigmatic. It has great rhyme and rhythm but There must be a deeper hidden meaning . Your "Giant" must pe someone or something you know. Anyway it is enjoyable to read
Great job!

Thanks so much - the hidden meaning is that my Philadelphia Eagles slaughtered Humpwhistle's NY Giants after Lee and I made a bet on the game :-) Brooke

27 zip...damn it was nearly a tie game. We don't get US football down here, just the Bowl Games in the local cantinas. I hate the Super Bowl, the crowd goes wild down stairs and makes so much noise I cannot hear. Glad you team won. I am a Seahawks fan myself, only if they go to the Superbowl, will I get to see them...maybe I'll go to the cantina and join the festivities. Great poem. I always admire a gracious winner.

I know this is about football, something I know nothing about
but the names of the teams. But I enjoy the poem and I am sure
is very clever. Good style , rhyme and I am sure Lee will appreciate.. LOL

I admit I'm sort of in the dark. Don't get the connection to Lee backing the wrong horse. Nevertheless, you rhyme like a pro and I tend to agree that part of being 'big' is to rise above the petty stuff. Well done, Brooke!

Adrienne, thank you. Lee roots for the Giants. I root for the Eagles. My team beat his big time last night. It's an expression that he backed the wrong horse :-) Brooke
-
Ah, sports teams. No wonder I didn't get it. Glad your team won, though. Baseball?
-
Nope, football - :-)
-
Of course. It's the season. It pre-empts all my favorite shows. LOL!

LOL :-)

Yeah, I watched that game last night. What a disgusting showing from Eli and the Giants -- the most unpredictable team in the NFL. The Eagles, on the other hand, look like they're the real deal. Don't look now, but along with the Cowboys, they're first in the NFC, both ahead of the Seahawks. However ... I don't think anyone gets by the Seahawks in the NFC in the end.

Brooke, I saw a little of that game after the Cowboys sacked Seattle soundly. How's that for alliteration. LOL. :0 GracieAnn
