You know your fans so well. I am sure Lee will appreciate this poem. Nice rhyme in combination with bad luck. Made me smile for a while.

This was a pleasant and easy poem to read. Perfect, as always, I can only offer praise. But I am still wondering if Giants cry...

Thanks so much, Curly Girly. They do if they're football players, the NY Giants, who just got shut out for the first game in 18 years :-) Brooke

This is an excellent little poem in tribute to Lee's insistence in 'backing the wrong horse.' I like a poem with irony LOL. Great job, Giddy

Eagles seem to have the upper hand over the giants down below, in this bit of rhyme. But don't forget, at some time or other, those lofty eagles have to land. Nice and catchy.

Hi Brooke
I read and re-read this little tyke. But I couldn't figure it out. I had to go to the "review ratings" for a clue. Then I shook my head... I was watching this game on TV last night! In fact, my Giants (yes, they're my team too) lost to the one team I never liked, the Philadelphia Eagles. Years ago, they cost me $8444 in a Proline lottery ticket. They weren't favoured to beat Cincinnati in a Monday night game. It was the only game of six where I picked the home team, Cincinnati. All the other games I picked on Sunday were long-shots, and I got them all right! The only game I needed was the Monday nighter. I thought I had it wrapped up...in the bag...in the BANK! But Philadelphia trounced them, even though the Eagles weren't predicted to win. I've never forgiven the high-flying Eagles.
Now it all shines through. You and the Hump...Ha! I didn't even finish watching the game last night. Did you see the sorry puss of Eli Manning, not just on the field but up in the stands? They were holding pictures of his whining screwed-up face. He better pull his socks up, or he'll lose his starting position for New York. I don't solely blame him. The rest of the Giants have to take some responsibility too.
Bottom line, though, Eagles definitely are Giant slayers!
Good one!
The Hump must have hung his head when he read this beauty,
"When Giants drop,
do Giants cry
as high above
the Eagles fly?" ...you crack me up, Brooke! I never knew you were such a knowledgeable NFL fan.
cheers

Thanks so much, Kimbob - I am a loyal and proud Philly sports fan. I can follow a game and understand the calls and will even have my opinions about if something was a facemask or not - but I'm hardly an expert. LOL Lee was trashtalking all day long leading up to the game, so I had to have some fun gloating. I'm really sorry about Cruz though - I have trick knees that dislocate, so I know how much pain that man was in and how long it takes to heal from this kind of injury. Yeah, I like a man's man, not a sorry puss like Manning. A couple of weeks ago our kid, the quarterback, not known for his machoness, played a stand up game, getting up every time they knocked him down, and all the commentators and bloggers were so impressed with him. :-) Brooke

I had New York picked in one of my fantasy football leagues, so I was disappointed by their loss. I bet you had lots of explaining about what your poem was about. A fun read.

A reflective poem about the fallibility of giants and the magnificence and magic of the lofty soaring eagle who looks at them in contemptuous disdain. Well done, Brooke.

Phyllis, thank you so much :-) Lee is a NY Giants fan. I am a Philadelphia Eagles fan. What happened to him is that my team trounced him after he did lots of trash talking leading up to the game. LOL :-) Brooke
