Great Halloween poem for kids. They love these counting down to zero things, but in this case, the last spider lived on... for a few minutes, anyway. :)

Maybe not for young children but older ones would enjoy it (like me - i'm just a big kid). i'm glad the spiders all (but one) had bad fate.

Brooke: What a great poem for children, very creative, great images and rhymes. I like how one caused fear, another crept up and got swatted and other ate a poisoned fly. I'm sure you are getting lots of good comments. Congrats on the All time best award! flylikeaneagle

Creepy excellent Hallowing imagery that chills my bones LOL.
A spider in the soup? You certain have a terrific imagination.
I am getting tough I guess , since I laugh enjoying the horror...

What a great countdown for Halloween, but bit sad but quite funny, and definitely not for little children. The artwork you chose is, indeed, delightfully perfect!

Which only goes to prove that we are all God's creatures. Our poet's spiders have character. Why do we instinctively shudder. Even I wrote a salute to the beauty of spiders and their silvery web. Our poet's final verse probably illustrates the root of all human sorrow; loneliness.
Meanwhile let us imagine that;
"More delicate than a snowflake, is a sunset
Woven by a Black Widow's spinneret." -Ekim777

Oh I smiled though this whole ordeal of the ten little spiders. They sure had a bad night. LOL The one little spider sure has a tale to spin his family. I loved it, Brooke. Blessings

I hope the survivor was a male or else you will need to write a sequel LOL. This is wonderfully written and could become the Halloween version of the ten little Indians. Nicely done and I thank you so much for sharing this with me.

A set of good rhyming couplets make up this Halloween poem. Well written and I can see why it is NOT for little children. Can't have them refusing to eat their soup in case there are spiders in there. It's such a good counting poem though, that most children would very likely think it great. Warm regards Dorothy x
