Ten Spindly Spiders
Halloween Counting Poem NOT for little children133 total reviews

I don't know why this isn't intended for little children. Fairy Tales of old (or of Olde) are much more explicit and gruesome than this. This poem is another take on the child's song, "Itsy Bitsy Spider". Very nice.

Joe, thank you - I agree older kids love dark - I was just referring to my grandson's toddler crowd :-) Brooke

Absolutely precious to read aloud and I love the diminishing number theme. So cute, Brooke. The alliteration of the spindly spiders is a great sound. The cause of each disappearance was extremely clever. What a treasure this piece is. I would love to see this set to music for children. Do you know any songwriters?

Hi...this is fun and creepy, mostly because spiders scare the heck out of me, not matter what time of year.
I like the count down. Kids love these poems and they are easy for them to remember... and easy for us big kids to read.

well they say at my age I'm a child at heart
The artwork your choose for your poem is a perfect match. I see the moon along with the spider are vanishing.
Your poem was nice and a little sad I'm glad you said not for children
Thank you for sharing.

Brooke, ahh, how sad for all those spiders.
I like your Halloween poem. I like the alliteration
in six spindly spiders, seven spindly spiders.

The artwork is beautiful and complements your poem excellently. It is not just not for children but not for me either. I am quite scared of spiders.

A very innovative take on 'Ten Green Bottles' or 'Ten Little Indians', but it has your own unique Halloween tale to tell. It was pure fun reading down the dwindling list of spider losses only to see the last having to survive alone. Great children's poem, but one old guy enjoyed it too. Ha Ha.

This gets a six! I don't have one, but....This is a fun, albeit eerie poem. And true that it's not for children. Great imagery, great word-smithing!
Peace,
Mike

A well written poem about spiders, very creative how you counted them down from 10 to 1.
I am sure the older children would enjoy it, it is no more scary that a lot of the childcare's stories.
Well done

Yours touched a part of me you may not believe. This is one of those reasons why I love poetry for its power to take those who understands, to a height beyond words, I mean from spoken words to the unspoken. Thanks adewpearl.
