Brooke,
I believe this poem of horror could be definitely read by teenage girls and boys on the night of Halloween.
The rhyming couplets are done very well and neither forced nor labored are the rhymes in the evening high up with the rhythmic flow is each rhyming couplet flows smoothly throughout this writing.
The imagery is very eerily written and very demonstratively descriptive as well as eloquently expressive: "for spindly spiders(alliteration) caused panic where they crept--One was stopped when people fled, and then others wept." How ugly that one that was stepped on.
Thank you so much for sharing and posting this for everyone to read and may the good Lord be with you always my friend.

This is my second attempt to review this poem--maybe internet problems in Boston. I'm glad you continue to be inspired by Halloween. I enjoyed your rhymed couplets and use of alliteration in your counting poem. Thanks for sharing your fun and great presentation. Cheers- Joan

Hi Brooke,
I'm not sure if I'm sad that the last spider is left alone, or not, lol. I caught his brother the other night starring down at my wife and myself. Don't worry...it was quick death!
As with many of your pieces this one brought a smile...thanks. There are so many serious poems on our site, (I'm guilty as any, lol), it's nice to read something from the lighter side.
Original thought with an excellent delivery, well done.
Best wishes, Bill

Ha ha - I don't like spiders of any kind,
but love your light-hearted poem presented
in rhyming couplets - great fun.
And Sawyer on a bouncer???

Thanks so much, Margaret. It was at a pumpkin patch Halloween fair sponsored by a local college. They hook the person up in a harness and two bungee cords. Then the person jumps like on a trampoline. By the time the "ride" time was over he was really into it and getting himself almost twenty feet into the air! :-) Brooke

Well, Lady, you can do wonders
with anything. Here, you have
taken ten spindly spiders and
told this engaging tale that
creeps down the screen until
only one is left and there your
Halloween tale ends.
Well done

Brooke, I love Halloween! Your submissions are always very good but this is just great. Thank you very much for making my Halloween just that much better. Side note: I once ate a spider for sixteen dollars.

Aww, this is too cute. You should take your poems like this and put them into a book for kids. In this case older kids, but still it is cute.

Well I don't care for spiders much at all, as a matter of fact they tend to turn me into a screaming little girl LOL. But I found this to be a wonderfully written piece and I was intrigued throughout.
God bless!

Hi Brooke,
This is a cute poem for Halloween. Where do you get all of your ideas to write so many different things? I enjoyed reading this. It's too bad that only one spider was left at the end.
