A piece for her family to treasure always. Your gift, in the concrete sense, will always be a reminder to keep hope in your days and of all who hold "lit s candle" for their Maureen. Your intangible "gift" is to touch hearts in a way we all wish we could. A ten star work if such were possible. - Wendy

This was a smooth flowing, well written poem, and proper grammar added a emphasis to a already strong message.

The spirit is indeed the candle that burns within every heart, bringing warmth, peace, and then knowledge that knowledge that our path is right.

I enjoyed the read.

HI Brooke, this is very beautiful and a fitting tribute to Maureen. It has a gentle strength--much like the poet this poem is dedicated to. Excellent use of iambic meter in the octogram form, and uplifting message that I hope her family will be able to read. Do they have access to FS? Beautiful write.

A stunning and beautifully written tribute to our dear Maureen, Brooke.

This read a bit like a Rondeau, or a Rondel poem in it's style and the way in which it was composed.

Whatever the format utilized, it was a touching ode to a wonderful and very brave lady.

The poignancy in these lines made me sit quiet for some time ,think about Maureen who is struggling between this world and the other.May be all our prayers would help her to tide over this time and come back."the heart knows more than thought discerns -a candle burns'-I am deeply touched by this line. i liked the phrase 'theft of light'and the idea of the spark existing during the days of doubt. It is the spark from the Universal Soul that keeps us alive and in touch with Him.
Thank you for posting it .

Has Maureen passed over? A candle in the dark to light her way or a candle for you to pray. I liked your poem for Maureen and maybe she is still hanging in there. She is being gently rocked by all the prayers and candles lit on this site.

Kay, thank you so much. No, as of the latest update, she is still hanging in there after another night, and her kids report that the doctors say it is a miracle that she keeps hanging on. :-) Brooke

Maybe she doesn't want to go home yet? Only the Lord knows why. Luv, K.

I loved this because it's not only for Maureen but for everyone in need of a little light. You did a great job with this and Maureen is with us and knows we're posting things and praying for her. I hope she's able to pull through but either way I know she's watching us and smiling upon us. Great job friend

Your beautiful poem made me cry. You chose the perfect form for what you wanted to say, then said it so clearly and eloquently and movingly, and in the end, managed to even include a bit of your trademark wisdom..."When reason teaches dark has won, and we've one glimmer, not the sun, the heart knows more than thought discerns--a candle burns." So wise and beautifully spoken.
