Beautiful, moving, deeply feeling, hopeful, poignantly visual, haunting;y illustrated. In some ways the reads like prayer, a psalm perhaps.
The following lines struck me profoundly:
for while despair dwells deep in dark,
hope lives within the slightest spark.
These lines seem to describe aptly Maureen's current battle.
The lines that follow: For every heart that ever yearns,
a candle burns.
speak of her circle of friends who pray and remember. We hope for return yet understand if she must leave us.
I like how the top and the bottom reflect the other.
Beautifully and sensitively written....

Brooke, this is not only a poignant piece in honour of our der friend in her current struggle, but also a poem that would stand outside of that as a reminder that hope exists in the darkest of days.
The octogram form's simplicity and regular rhythm works well with your words here.

this is beautiful, brooke, a wonderful tribute to Maureen's spirit of courage and the journey she is on. I am so glad her family continues to share her writings with us.

A fitting and touching tribute to a friend. There is always a candle to light our way at the darkest moments, remembrance of the people in life we have cherished. Evi

A beautiful tribute, Brooke. As humans we do seem to cling to that one spark of light and is ling as it there, we continue to hope.
This is an interesting form. I will have to try an octogram one of these days. You have used it to create a thoughtful work that inspires deep contemplation.
I am with you, Maureen has fought a good fight. May she find peace wherever the light leads, here or beyond.

A flickering light the world needs.
With light it will succeed.
Because in darkness,
We all will bleed...
I enjoyed reading this excellent piece of poetic art. It has a good message that is poetically driven... John

The contrast of light and dark are good. Good imagery. Nice line...When reason teaches dark has won. Well chosen photo for this poem. Hope Maureen is okay, I haven' been on here much, lately:)
