What a well-written and meaningful poem. I especially enjoyed the fact that you mixed the rhyme around a little. The repetition of the catch phrase really tied it all together well.

Brooke: a sobering poem yet filled with love and hope and a peace which fills the heart. And, I will light a candle for Maureen. Linda

Every phrase does justice to your profound message. A most moving and inspiring piece. And it reflects the maturity of a lifetime's effort and understanding. It is worthy of the highest rating. -EKim777

Brooke,
This has beautiful imagery and so well expresses Maureen's journey and her ever hopeful spirit.
Excellent use of alliteration and beautiful rhymes.
My favorite line:
"for while despair dwells deep in dark,
hope lives within the slightest spark."
Beautiful ending.
Thank you for this hopeful prayer for our friend.

I'm not sure of Maureen's status. I hope she's still fighting. A beautiful and heartfelt poem, which was expected. My wife lit a candle the other night.

Thank you so much, drivenbackward. As of the latest update, she is still clinging to life, much to the awe of the doctors. Brooke :-)

How lovely! May Maureen follow the light of the many candles burning for her.
I love the octogram, with its unusual meter. Your words are touching, Brooke.

Brooke, lovely and heartfelt tribute for Maureen. I am sure she hears your words even now from within your heart. The small flame from a candle does light everything in its path and signals a glimmer of hope we pray for daily. Lovely... Jean

A candle of hope that penetrates the dark abyss so there can be life and vibrancy whether in this world or the next for the attainment of peace in this uncertain world. We all hope so mush that the candle will burn bright and lead her to peace. Well done, Brooke.

I enjoyed how the poetic form foreshadows a mind state that speaks about life: "for while despair swells deep in dark, hope lives within the slightest spark.' Nicely was the fist line repeated in last verse. The balance and formula was the message that hope wins, despite dark times in life.
Most enjoyable reminder like in pantoum. No negative comments. Exceptional: A Candle Burns
