He is a true boy.
My son also need pockets in his pants from about the age of three. And he always had a Hot Wheel car in at least one of them. They are so precious. Enjoy him while he is still so innocent.
Good poem.

Thank you so much, Razz :-) You have to love boys, especially when they're still innocent! LOL :-) Brooke

"Pickles and Ketchup" pretty much sums up the strange concoction and unlikely pair of children's favorite tastes. Your entire poem is delightful and is very fluid and meaningful with lines like "perfect companions like I'm made for you." Well done!

This poem oozes with love. It drips from every line, and from every one of his grandma's word. Kids are naturally fussy about food. Instinctual, I think - Brussels sprouts are only for OLD people. Ask any kid. My niece NEVER ate meat. Hated it. She didn't know anything about where the food came from - she just wouldn't eat it. Still doesn't, some 50 years later.
And pants without pockets? Where the heck are you supposed to put your frogs?
Loved this one, Brooke. It's a keeper.

So far, Sawyer also refuses all meat. I will not share with his mom that your niece never changed her ways. Miranda is still living in hope :-) Brooke

Good luck with that. LOL

I do have to have my pickles and ketchup when I order a burger! What a sweet little ditty - this is one that just says see how much I love you.

This lovely child seems to never get older. This fun, rhyming poem plays with all those combinations that we have pared together in our cultural. It's like a new take on Roses are Red

Wonderful, just wonderful. I might try that combination myself. Just kidding. I did however used to enjoy mustard and ketchup sandwiches. Nothing like experiencing wonder through the eyes of a child.

Jimi, thank you :-) Frankly, it sounds disgusting to me. LOL :-) Brooke

It isn't! Especially if the pickles are fried! Hey, Sawyer knows a good thing when he taste it. You tell him Jimi said so.. lol..

Yeah, who likes pocketless britches anyhow, I ask you? I've only seen very, very old men and women wearing them, or extremely obese individuals, and Sawyer certainly is neither.
Nice, even rhyme and rhythm, and a different take on the contest than most entries I've read. But love is love, and it doesn't matter if it's love for someone, or -- in this particular case -- something(s).
Well done, Brooke, and good luck in the contest. :)

Ha-ha, yeah, well...you know how us old guys are, Brooke. LOL.
You know you're always welcome, my friend. :]

when I was a teen my father would embarrass me to no end by calling our hi-fi a Victrola - now my kids have no idea what a hi-fi is. LOL
I think they still have a vague idea what a stereo used to be ;-)

HAHAHAHA = oh Brooke, I am laughing at your author's notes. As for the poem itself, it is absolutely delightful - pure cheer. (Pickles and ketchup? Yuk, Sawyer! LOL)

Thanks so much, Dawn - yep, he eats that but won't eat pasta or any type of meat or...the list is endless. His mother calls him her little shnookums. :-) Brooke
