I like the photo and the flow. He looks happy and content. I feel the love and affection from the writer. Children are creative and interesting to observe. It takes very little to please them, they are so sweet and loving. They are perfect " companions " like a "lock and a key". thanks

LOL! The title grabbed me since I can fully relate to pickles and ketchup being a romantic experience. This is a delight and beautifully constructed. I wish you all the best in the judging and thank you so much for sharing this with me.

Brooke: How fun and delightful! Sawyer is inputting...maybe writing with grandma. I started playing with children's stories while my girls were young. Have fun with this. Glad that Sawyer likes pockets for his treasures. I like your giggles and laughter compared to waves in the sea.

I am looking forward to the children poetry class.

How verrry clever this is. He's actually eating pickles with Kethcup? Wow. That's a kid with unusual taste... where's the burger? I hope he's not getting too much salt. Both pickles and Ketchup are full of salt, so make sure he eats bananas and drink orange juice to get enough potassium to balance all that salt. Americans eat WAY too much salt, and when you take in more salt than potassium, your muscles suffer and can't work as well due to electrolyte imbalance. The salt takes up the receptors if there is not MORE potassium than sodium (salt) and the whole body suffers damage. Gotta start kids out right. :)

Can't help it... I'm a lecturer. You can take the teacher out of the classroom, but you can't shut her up. :)

Phyllis - he eats NO meats, no pasta, no pizza, next to nothing other than his trusty short short list of foods, and yes, high on that list is pickles dipped in ketchup. Yes, bananas and juice are on his short list. His mother has always been committed to his eating right. She has taken him to the doctor and a nutritionist. She has read a bazillion web sites. The one thing they all agree on is you can't jam the stuff down the kid's throat. You figure this one out and let me know! His mother would love the solution. Thanks for your review :-)

Hmm... very odd not to like pizza and pasta. Hot dogs? Thought all kids eat those. I would be concerned if he likes the salty foods that much, because it might mean an imbalance that his body is tryihg to fix by craving salt. Most kids don't like steak and turkey and pork that's prepared the "adult" way, but I thought they all liked balogna.

How about veggies? Besides the cucumbers in the pickles, that is?

It just occurred to me that pickles and ketchup AND orange juice are all high in ACID, something else to look at.

Good for Miranda to taking him to a doctor and a nutritionist, but doctors don't really know much beyond what they see every day. If he had something rare, they would never see it right off. You'd have to persist. I used to watch a TV show about mytery diseases that docs nevr found and then, after ten or thirty years, the poor patient finds the RIGHT doc that solves the case.

I doubt Sawyer has a rare disease. Kids that age still haven't developed a taste for things they will like later. Probably all it is. :)

Brooke: so much fun and filled with grandma's love, wit and familiarity of her grandson's likes. Pickles and ketchup . . . hmmmmmmmmmm, no, I don't think so! Good luck in the contest. Linda

No little boy should ever be without pockets. The photos are adorable and the poem is another one he'll love when read to him. He is going to have such happy memories of his grandmother. Darling poem, Brooke.

Very nice. I likes. You are a true master poet, your every post is a gem. Even though I suspect that you could write these in your sleep, your poems never sound like they were written in your sleep. They are funny, insightful, up lifting and just plain entertaining. Thank you for your wonderful gifts. And I feel that each of your poems is a gift to me the reader.

This is such a touching poem in which you get to know a lot about Sawyer and his loving mother. They are the perfect pair and she's fine with ice cream and goo, because she loves Sawyer so! The language is easy for a child to understand and playful in it's rhythm, so adult or child it has great appeal and a fun meeting though art! The pictures are great! God Bless you both Always!

Excellent. this is so bouncy and cheerful. I like all the pairings you did/ This poem typifies the likes and dislikes of little boys. Those keys are important for Sawyer to have,,, They unlock the door to his childhood!
