Such a sweet poem, Brooke. pickles and ketchup are my cup of tea, too. Especially on a good hamburger with onions. Nice job with your short lines. Good luck in the contest.

I love your definition of love for a small boy, I not sure I disagree, with all the wisdom that God gives, I'm still a sucker and a fool for these things, even if I know better, or do I? Super poem, Brooke, I'll be with my grandsons in a couple of days, and it's my job to tempt them with candy and chips, I might be the devil in the guise of grandpa! Well done, blessings, Roy.

Extremely uplifting work. Good rhythm, originality, and descriptive form. 'like you're made for me' is the way I feel about our grandson! Love the photos. Well done!

Although I might challenge Sawyer's favorite food combination, I can only delight in the lovely story that you tell about your relationship with him. thanks, as always. Caroline

So the love is not evolving from romantic notions of attachment, but from a recognition that certain things like pickles and ketchup belong together, along with keys/locks,pants/ pockets, icecream/goo. I can buy that idea, and it's so different to all of the other poems that it might just turn the judge's minds toward food. A beautiful little tale of a child's passions and priorities.

Syrup on waffles draws the reader right into the poem, you hve made me hungry, Sawyer and I like all the same food. This is a fun poem that evokes feelings of love and brings out the child in all of us.

I could have stopped after the first stanza and been as happay as a clam. Indeed it just got better. Congers up the love I have for my grandaughter and just how special that two year-old relationship is. Technically flawless and flowed nicely, cadence excellent and the well chosen words are tear worthy. Thank you.
