Thanks for sharing this story, Dean. I read a lot of spiritual poems on this site.. and most of them make me want to gag. I don't mean to be cruel or rude.. I just feel the need to be honest. I started loosing my faith not long ago.. but there is still this little voice inside me that keeps some of it hanging on. After reading this I almost feel like believing again. Thanks for sharing.

Well, you should, Dawny. You know I'm not one to be preachy, and I rarely ever post poems of faith. But except for the embellishments which I outlined in the author's notes, this is all true. Now, out of all the things that could have happened to my bottled note, and out of all the people who could have found it, what do you think the odds are that it would be found by a preacher? About a million to one, I think.

I don't judge people based how how they do or don not believe, that job is already taken by a much higher authority than me. However, I do always encourage folks who are teetering on the brink to just give God a chance. He'll come through, I promise you He will. He hasn't failed me yet! :)

Sorry I rambled on so long, and I do appreciate the kind and truthful comments very much.

Oh, Dean, I'm practically speechless. How can I find the right words to respond to such a beautiful story... This has great appeal to everyone, both children and adults. Many faith poems are written, but this one really touches my heart. You are blessed. Hugs, Lou

Dean, this is such a heart-warming poem. Your rhymes, as always, beautifully accompany the deep emotion of this write. The AN's were a special treat! What a cool story.

I know the feeling, kiwijenny. There are so many talented authors of poetry and prose here, yourself included, that I go through my meager allotment of six 6 star ratings in a matter of days. But while the sixes are nice, they're not the most important thing. The most important thing is touching the hearts of those who care enough to read your work, and hopefully inspiring (or terrifying, LOL) them as well. That's why I do what I do.

Thanks so much for your thoughtful review. :)

"Words of Wisdom." > 'Never ask God for the answers on you math test.' This is very well written with a smooth flow of words, making for a very good read.

You must have had an interesting, though sometimes sad childhood. It's funny how we hold on to those things which give us hope. The pastor must have been quite an inspiration to you to take the time to write that response. Thanks so much for sharing a beautiful, heartfelt story.

Thanks, Linda. Looking back on the situation as a whole, I find it amazing that a minister (he was of the Pentecostal faith) was the one who found the note, out of all of the other possibilities. For anyone who tries to tell me that there's no God, I simply say, "Good luck in your beliefs."

Dean, this is one of the best poems I've read all year. You tell such a beautiful story in this one and the fact that it is biographical makes it every more special.
Your gift of eloquence is evident in every line and your faith unwavering. I think if I am not your fan now, I will be as soon as I click "save".

Blessings,
Jewell

Now, this is a real life spiritual poem. Something about real life fascinates me. I had something similar happen to me. Amazing how hat bottle came back? Wonder what them odds are? it's amazing that you still got that bottle, and that a preacher man discovered it? You need to go to Vegas with luck like this. I like the floating bottle. Was it hard to find? This definitely captivated me. this is a keeper. Count your doubloon. spook-a-doo

So special. You did a good job taking a young boy's questions into what others can understand and receive some benefit. I can 'see' the bottle floating until it is picked up. I enjoyed the flow of your poem. I liked the response from the pastor. I am glad you shared this experience with others so they might have some relief from the times that trouble them. Good job. Thanks for sharing.
