Hi. Well the win says much more than my meager words can:-) I really liked this, it kept me reading to the end. It was a sort of deep whimsy.

waits for the water everyday - every day
congratulations on your contest win, Mikey
this is beautifully written and thoughtful in its message
calling a tree in the lawn a houseplant is a bit of a stretch, but that is the logical debater in me coming out, not the reader who appreciates heartfelt writing :-) Brooke

Hi micheal, this is a wonderfully written story for this competition my friend, I can understand why it came first, the imagery and description were great, over here of course, you would have lost, we call the willow a garden plant, but that doesn't detract from your brilliant writing skills my friend, Congratulations!

Now, see? I didn't notice this was a contest winner, only that it was submitted. I was going to tell you it would be a definite contender. This is actually a unique story. I've never read any like it. I can imagine it with pictures as a book for children. It's really good!

I found this story to be sensitive and deep. Reminds me that humans should take better care of the earth and be more appreciative of nature as a whole. Congrats with the win!

Thanks for the pleasure of sharing your enjoyable story, and congratulations on winning the Dying Houseplant Contest. I almost was expecting the plant to say something. Great job. :-)

Bravo! Verrry well-deserved win, Mikey. I always tell you (don't I?) that short pieces are where you shine! Your creative mind pours out words like a river of insight and empathy. You have a way of seeing INSIDE OF everything, and you make it look so easy. GLad it's only Tuesday and I still have some sixes. I'd give you BOTH of them if I could, to make twelve stars: ************

A testament to everything having a purpose and value . This is entertaining and pleasant. I like the imagery of the plants and trees talking and being friendly. Plants and humans need attention, nurture, and appreciation. Thanks

This is a very different story and I enjoyed your plant talk. I am so glad I have a bush garden, for I fear that I will now, forever be afraid to prune a rose.
Thanks for the amusing read.
