this is an excellent write, brooke, I enjoyed reading this and your author notes are just excellent. I know what you are talking about. too many people are pushing a financial agenda in God's name.

This is a nice creepy tale. I like it, it reminds me of the movie 'The Fog'. The power of fate is within, and nothing we do can change it or alter it. A complete loss of control. Well done.

The poem is eerie. The fog could come for any of us no matter our circumstances or if we are good or not, so beware because you could be next.
You usually write such upbeat poetry that when you step over to the dark side it is unexpected. But I like it. You do it so very well.
Nice little "rant" as you call it. Certainly if being good kept all the awful things away from us we would all be good to avoid the bad consequences and reap the rewards.

Brooke, your poem is terrific - your author notes more than terrific. So often we grow up thinking (because we are taught) - good never gets 'bad' - and if it does...you did something wrong. It simply isn't that way and you did a lovely job of sharing. It should be discussed far more often from the pulpit than it is. Jean

Deeply thoughtful and eloquently spoken. I agree that there is no symmetry in life. Your philosophy is right on. I hear what you are saying: no one escapes the fog. It rains on the just and the unjust - the difference is in how we act and react. Very well done.

Perfect picture to enhance the words.
This life is not fair. Those who seem to have it all often have taken it by hook or crook, but still prosper.
Good people do not always win, are not always healthy, and often are victims to those who have greed or power.
I am glad I believe in something more, because sometimes, this life gets a little too overwhelming......
Excellent.

My friend who died last year of cancer was the most spiritual person I know, she had her quirks but she was so strong in her faith. She fought a short battle with cancer, a battle she should not have had to fight, but she did. In her fight she laid that hospital bed and as people came in to pray for and with her they usually ended be being the one prayed upon because even at her weakest she still tried to help and encourage others. One person said how could I go in with the intentions of being there for her and yet having it turned around. Someone told her that she was always there for them and it was their time to give back to her in the battle of her as I call it. Still, she loved praying for people and talking to people and yeah. I loved how you incorporated the word fog. You did amazing with this

You absolutely hit the nail on the head with this poem. terrible things happen to wonderful people.. wish more people could appreciate just having the ability to walk around freely because you know it could be taken away at any moment. My daughter was hit from nowhere with Parkinsons. She is positive and brave and does well, but very day is a struggle for her. Luckily she has a very supportive husband. Love this poem.
