This is a wonderful poem. Really fun read, and I love the pix of your great-nephew. You can see he's having a ball on his Slip and Slide. I loved those as a kid. Amazing they're still around. Good writing. Judy

Love the lighthearted tone of this. I also see a broader message with the last stanza about finding contentment in the things we have.

You post this when I am out of six. So I give you 5. Well done. Your wording sings a good song about fun in the back yard. Love the photo. Blessings

There is a lovely smooth flow to this piece and the bouncy rhythm and strong rhymes make it a pleasure to read.
As ell, you have taken care with the structure, with one stanza each devoted to ocean, lake and stream before rounding everything off nicely in the final stanza.

It doesn't matter the time outside in the yard - when photos like this arrive in your mailbox you have to comment and enjoy the moment for what it is. Kids do make everything better and everything fun. We turn on a dime when they touch our hearts - and their photos in our inbox! Very sweet. AT=/

This is a wonderfully rhymed poem with a light playful meter. Children are easier to please than adult and water is a natural appeaser for them.

Okay, I squirmed at the tanning line (no, no, no!) and "beam" doesn't seem to fit, but I love the idea that fun is just one piece of plastic and a hose away!

With summer slipping away from us here in Colorado, I really did enjoy your poem, JmF! It also was a reminder of my children and their wonderful times in our backyard on their slip'n slide many years ago. Your words are very descriptive.
Your rhyming is very nicely done, and your words flow with a lovely rhythm. Of course, the accompanying picture is perfect.
Thank you for sharing. Alana

Nice comparison of wishing for an ocean, lake, or stream. I remember my children on Slip n slides. good memories. No matter the season, your poem was delightful.
