I can see why this photo inspired your to write a great poem. All the places of enjoyment you mention are beautiful places to be, but we can also have a ball in our own back yard.
Very well written

I see varied images in this poem. The rhyme and rhythm is good. While the poem talks about places he/she had gone, the ocean, the lake, the stream, but today, he/she had chosen the backyard, "just riding on my slip'n slide."

Fun for a child, reflective for an adult. You've done well with not allowing this write's potential to fall. It travels through its message without losing the view it is portraying. Ah, summer's parting is bittersweet.

What a charming and adorable poem (and picture, too)! The meter gives it a cheerful cadence, and the rhyme is spot-on, regardless of the change between stanzas. I enjoyed it VERY much!

Hi Jmf
What a treat and thanks for sharing this lovely shot of your great-nephew having such summer fun.
A pacey, jaunty read which 'sang' as cresting waves splashed all over my keyboard. All the resplendent watery moments you express in this delightful, energising poem are at my backdoor. Well minutes away - :)) How I loved those backyard water slides .. one of the better inventions for play, and ideal for an Aussie summer, especially when it was hot and no chance of going to the beach.
Excellent rhyme and rhythm and use of enjambment ... you bring delight to this lovely day, a little cooler after an early spring two day heatwave.... with more expected this week.
Home sweet home for sure. A charming read. Brings a huge smile to my face. Warm regards - Lovinia xoxo

Hi Janet
This is an excellent poem for the end of summer. I truly enjoyed it. It reads so smoothly. Your rhymes and meter are perfect.
I like the repetition of "I'd love to..."
You cover ocean, lake and stream... that's enough to make anybody wet. But you are quite happy with your slip'n-slide.
I especially like this line,
"watch the waves caress the shore"
And now, I need a towel!
Thanks for sharing this, as Autumn fast approaches.
Nicely penned!
cheers
