When
supreme love
enters
the fiber
of one's being,
all windows
to hatred
slam shut.

Beautiful sentiments, rd. I especially like the first stanza. Good luck in the contest!

Hugs,
Lois

The infinity of love is as beautiful as it is mysterious, usually beyond the compression of human experience, even if touched by it, as I have, it is something that I try to give, but is sometimes elusive, I have been touched by the divine so dramatically that it changed my life, from the moment of first encounter, of course scripture says " God is Love" so that when love is personified it explains a lot! Great wording, alliteration, skilfully woven into this great rendering! Well done, blessings, Roy.

You capture the essence of love with alliteration and well-chosen "special" words, internal rhyme...laced with grace...personification...darkness dies, shadows dance...beautiful. I feel the effects of Buddism in this poem, especially in the lines darkness dies, inside of light. Well done, my friend.

Thanks so much, dear Maggie, for your thoughtful comments and glowing rating too. Love that you sense the Buddhist influences. Eastern mysticism is one of my favorite themes...

The picture adds to your post. Your notes also enhance the
free verse. I do not feel alliteration is necessary, but it
does no harm and adds to the excellence of your work

Thanks, L! I appreciate your feedback. That's one of my favorite pictures of Amma from the old days. I may trim down some of the alliteration. :) Warmly, rd

This is a lovely poem about your Guru, rama devi. The picture you have provided of her is a nice enhancement to your words.

Your free verse lines have a nice flow, and you've made very good use of alliteration (especially with presence prevails prompting potent) and enjambment.

Best of luck in the contest! Alana

A delightful poem about a form of "supreme love" that may "enter the fiber of one's being" from time to time, and the "sorrow shut forever" effect that "divine devotion" can bring forth into one's life.

My suggestion has to do with the alliteration. First, I adore alliteration, and you use it with aplomb. However, when used excessively (more than 3 times in close proximity) the figuration itself dominates the content.

In the context of this poem, here is an example:

When divine devotion dawns, / doors of sorrow shut forever ...
(4 d's. You might consider replacing "dawns" with another word such as "lights," or another tact would be a word like "strikes," which would yield a braided alliteration, drawing the 's' sound across all four lines of the stanza. I would also consider removing the word "because" which seems unnecessary.

When divine devotion strikes,
doors of sorrow shut forever.
Every single moment
is laced with grace.

And darkness dies
inside of light.

Two other sections like this to look at:

Pristine purity purges / all past pain (5 p's)

Love's presence prevails ... / prompting potent (4 p's)

)

Good luck with the judges!

Cheers,
DW

Thank you for your kind and astute review, dear Donald. I appreciate your feedback. I will trim off because and will consider trimming some alliteration--although, reading aloud it does not bother me much. Some letters sound too much with four or five in a row, but D and P do not, I think. Will come back to this later with a fresh ear.

    I appreciate your review!

Thanks for sharing & Yes, there is a definite need for more people, like she. I believe this poem to be a philosophy of what you feel & too, Amma & one that she practices as a Guru & in everyday life...Very nice poem about Infinite Love & how you both perceive it, or inspired by her to write this.....Best Wishes...
