Thanks so much, Teresa - I wrote some really grisly ones in past years, but now I have a toddler to think about, so this year's poems will be more kid friendly :-) Brooke

I believe that's twice today you and your wonderful poetry has ripped a six star rating from my grasping claws, Brooke. But, how could I not rate this anything but a six? I'm very stingy with those, since we get so few (as are you!), but this one clearly deserved it as well in my book.

Hell, take 'em all, for all I care, LOL!

Wonderful alliteration abounds in this write. Excellent rhyming in trochaic meter (yes, I know now what it means...I've been doing my research!), and a fun but spooky message for all ages to enjoy this Halloween.

Spectacular! :}

Thanks so much, Dean - it's not grisly like some I wrote in past years, but this year I have Sawyer to consider, so I'm trying to make them a tad scary without being too scary. I hate super cutesy Halloween poems, so I am avoiding that route. :-) Brooke

Yep, if there are little ones about, you have to be careful, for sure.

    You are very welcome. :)

Sawyer is very empathetic. He watches movies like Despicable Me and Toy Story and calls out warnings to the good guys. He reassures them, also, that everything will be all right. So my Halloween poems have to end well, or his mother will kill me. LOL

Heh-heh, Oh, so it's Momma Bear whose hackles we're worried about raising here, then. Well, that makes even more sense. :D

Momma Bear's brother and I both agree - she is one scary person! LOL

Well done Halloween poem. I think you named every scary type of thing and then even found a rhyme for Halloween. How can it be ghostly, gloomy and also very good? Somehow it is :)

Thanks so much, Anita - it's like scary amusement park rides - it's so much fun to be scared when you know the danger ain't really going to kill you :-) Brooke

I like that MonnWillow art but it doesn't say the name of it. I love you Halloween poem. It ghoulish but not enough to scare a child. Nice innocent ghostly fun poem. Great job.

I can't wait to see what Sawyer will be this year.

This is really cute for kids to recite, the words sound so slick and alliterative. Great Halloween imagery, appealing to kids. Great rhyming and super picture. Most enjoyable. Faye

I'll never read this one with the lights out. Terrific alliteration, Brooke. Nifty rhymes, too. I won't even haunt you about the "growl/now" pairing. Good luck in the contest.

This is a really catchy poem that follows a pattern all the way through. It does put a cill up your back and goosebumps down your arm.

I'd forgotten how much I loved Halloween and the odd
characters that accompany it. How was it that I hated and loved being scared at the same time?
Nightmares terrified me, but I'd court them Saturday matinees with titles like, Bucket of Blood.
Vincent Price. Boris Karloff. Phyllis Diller--oops, scary in a different way.

I love your October evil, Brooke. Jumping the gun, eh?

Peace, Lee

Yup! I'm a prickly sonofabitch. Oh, you said picky. My mistake.

Well, at least I'm not cantankerous.

You have ushered us into Halloween with rhyme, yours is the first I've read of this holiday. This one time of the year when we can face our fears in a celebration atmosphere is a healthy outlet.
