Disappointing for you ... I thought your first line explaining your boss was French would have explained it. I guess everyone loves their horses in the US and can't bear the thought of eating horse meat. I could never kill and eat my pet chickens. Your story is excellent and shows great wit .... a shame the topic was not popular ... though you took a risk and wrote what you wanted to write. I applaud that.

I don't know about brave, I try to review all the poems in a contest so I really get the poem before I make my selection. Sometimes we miss things on a single read, which is probably what happened to you. You wrote well, not every poem/story will receive what we might like it to receive, or what it may deserve.

OOH if I had gold I'd give it to you for this. I don't userally review anything but poetry. But I happened upon this one and had to stay because I am a huge horse lover.
Then I read it and laughed out loud so hard I scared the dog.
Very good incentive. Great use of under 60.

Hi Pearl. Thanks for the great review. I have ridden since before I can remember, horses are really just a legal drug:-)

Oh my gosh, poor Gypsy. During the war my mother said they often ate horsemeat, and when you are very hungry it doesn't taste bad. I dont ever want to be that hungry. Nor, I'm sure did you. Well written in few words
