What a very cool story. Chickens are endlessly interesting to watch, and people who keep them get very passionate about how clever they are. It seems a lot of work for a plate of scrambled eggs, butmakes a fun story!

Thanks. Pat's experiment with chickens was shortlived. After she found the cockerel dead she went back to buying eggs from the market. Glad you liked it.

An interesting story about an interesting place. It never occurred to me that the cock was blind. I like that you made only one reference to the neighbors, and then didn't bother to point the finger at the end.
I'm not sure I get the bit about the twenty euros at the end. Maybe I'm missing something.

skinflint was only matched for his reputation as a hard bargainer--in this context, skinflint and hard bargainer could be seen as pretty much the same thing.

it was her who wanted the favour. --I think it is 'she' who wanted the favor.

Thanks, glad you liked it. The 20 Euro reference was to the fact she only pid 6 for the blind cock.

In this amusing story, an English woman (Patricia) acquires a blind cockerel from Miguel ostensibly for free, but then is charged 6 euros for a cage. After sleeping in and finding the cock beheaded, Pat decides to purchase a better quality replacement, as reflected in the higher estimated cost for the next cage.

One bit of SPAG:
After all, it was her[she] who wanted the favour.

Excellent job!

Cheers,
DW
