I continue to love your poetry. Your verses are so easy to read and carry such soft messages. The last line of this poem tells all, doesn't it?
Another wonderful poem to remember.
Again, thank you!

Your father knew the right way to garden. My mom always said that if you mowed the weeds short enough, they looked like a beautiful lawn.

"for he knew toil and never shirked one minute of his labor, but time at home was set aside for beauty to be savored." - If more folks in the world were just like this it would be a much happier place in which to live. This is a wonderful tribute to your Dad and he sounds like he was one heck of a person. Nicely done and I thank you so much for sharing this with me.

Brooke,
I love this poem about your father. I can see him falling asleep with his hands crossed over his belly. Just lovely imagery and for one to enjoy the summer through your words. Wonderful tribute to your father. The sower of memories.
The painting you choose was beautiful and added to the joy of reading.
Looking forward to your next posting,
Cheryl : )

I love my garden. Wish l could be a bit more like your dad and enjoy the thousands of splendid free flowers. Sounds beautiful and makes me want to grow dandelions now... as dandelions spread their gold. Most of my back gardens are taken up with food and my front gardens flowers and bushes which l have planted. Lots of weeds in the strawberry patch though which are pleading with me to be removed. Loved the poem. Gardening from the comfort of a hammock. Sounds a it like my son. Genya

I love gardening so I can relate to this poem. I live in an apartment, but have geraniums and African violets that never stop blooming and ivys that are long and beautiful. It is such a fun way to relax.

for he knew toil and never shirked
one minute of his labor,
but time at home was set aside
for beauty to be savored.
suggest:
for he knew toil and never shirked
one minute of his labor,
but time at home was set aside
for beauty he would savour
My father was a gardener
who did not do the growing,
but every memory I hold dear --
my father did the sowing.
suggest not repeating the word father
My father was a gardener
who did not do the growing,
but every memory I hold dear --
To his natural garden showing
with respect, dip
