Your father and I would get along well,we both enjoy those dandelions. This poem pays tribute to your Dad and his hard work that made your home a beautiful place. I like the theme of your father resting and watching nature in her glory, flowers, bees and robins.

A very refreshing poem with its metered and rhymed scheme. It is light and engaging and soothes. The read between the lines gives the reader a peep at the kind of love for you and your father shared. Thanks for sharing; God bless!

Oh Brooke, how exceptionally lovely! Once again you have this sentimental, romantic fool welling up - what exquisite imagery this makes me 'see, and such bittersweet emotion (since I grew up without a dad until my early teens). Just beautiful!

Your father was typical of skilled people: barbers need always need a hair cut; doctors who smoke; a maid's house seems untidy; and preacher's have the worst kids. LOL I guess when you retire from something you've done for a living, you retire all together.
as honeybees passed over.[like this line]

This is beautiful Brooke - you tell a story and it flows beautifully in its rhyme scheme. Your garden in this poem sounds beautiful - after all there are no such things as weeds - just indigenous plants growing where we don't want them. A lovely read. Warm regards Dorothy x

Brooke, What a wonderful tribute to your father! It brought a tear to my eye as I recalled the roses my father so lovingly grew in his garden. He was pulling weeds the day he went into the hospital just a few days before his death this past summer.
Such a sweet and humorous tale. I'm so glad you shared it with us all!
Blessings,
Marsha

Ah, another beautiful tale recited
in rhyme, which brings to mind, your
dad, who took the time to look around
and smell the roses, take in all the
beauty all around if one stops to inhale
all this wonderland that nature provides.
Well done

My Mary stays behind me . I had to cut the grass today and I thought it was over for the year. Three cheers for John Deer. Well done Brooke. Your father worked hard, so he deserved his rest.

What a smart gardener your dad was, Brooke! To enjoy the beauty of nature in your own lawn while resting from week-long work, must have been so rewarding. Your poem is beautiful, and I can feel your love for your dad in your words.
Smiles,
Karyn :-)
