How nice, Brooke. Good memories here. Great poem with great rhythm. I think some wildflowers are very beautiful. Love the picture. Yellow is one of my favorite colors. LOL. Miss Sally

Brooke, I can't believe how similar our fathers were. Mine loved his rose garden, but he did little weeding or pruning, but much sniffing. Thanks for bringing back the memories both fathers sowed.
I really like how you have characterized him here as almost a gentleman farmer. Very visual description of his lawn.
Your meter and ABCB rhyme scheme are flawless.

A well written homage poem to your father. I can understand him having no inkling for gardening, as I work long hard hours and I feel the same about my patch. The poem works well in stanzas and the rhyme flows superbly. The thing with carefully manicuring a garden is nobody lives forever, so when you die the garden will overgrow anyway.

How many of us, as children, picked these "pretty" flowers and brought them home, so our moms could put them in a glass of water? I know I did. Aren't weeds, gods seeds?

Brooke, this brought tears to my eyes.
It is so touching and what a lovely memory of
your father. Now I know why you love dandelions so.
in addition to the emotional impact of your beautifully
worded poem is the pleasure of reading its perfectly rhymed and
metered lines. I'm sure your Dad is smiling down on you today!

Nancy, thank you so very much for your gracious and generous response to my poem. So many of my best memories are of the lawn of that house, including our ever-present robins and their nests :-) Brooke

Excellent in every way a poem can be. Loved the author notes as well and your conclusion about him doing the sowing on the really important things of life! Great job once again!

So that is why you love dandelions so much. I never knew that. I love wildflowers, I really do but I tried them here and the ugly weeds took over . Thistle and Lambs ears and Kukkleberries. They were so troublesome and my health so poor I had to give up. Nice poem Brooke. I think he was a wise man. Nancy

Perhaps we could all take a leaf out of hos book - after all the goats are still enjoying their dandelion fodder and it doesn't look like I'll ever get rid of the darned things!

Lovely presentation enhances your usual smooth rhyme and meter and a wise message slipped easily into the final stanza.
