This essay has the ring of truth about it. When I retired I heard over and over that I'd be bored with nothing to do. What a lie! I have plenty to do. And as I grow older, less of it is required to fill my typical day. If I live long enough, there will come a time when nothing at all is required to fill my day.

Thank you for this great review for my little story, Gerald. I, too, have tons of things to do, and that's what makes the day fly. I loved my job with a passion, and now I love retirement with the same passion. Thanks.

What a delightful rendition of your day. So many people I speak to mention how boring retirement is. My father-in-law was incredibly morose about that chair of his...until his wife went to part time. His vacation retirement has picked up since then. Recently, it's often spent in a boat with a fishing pole and hook. Slugs have a much less exciting time. :)
Good writing. Continue to enjoy retirement.

I'm delighted you enjoyed my little story, Sean, and thank you for the great review and your comments. I have too much to do, so there's no chance of being bored. Thanks!

I know of the A&E Channel all too well, my friend. Being early retired myself, I've often asked myself the same sorts of questions. But, since my wife works, I've taken on the role of soccer dad, dishes doer, keeper of the laundry, and the household maid. In addition, I submit manuscripts to publishing houses, write and read incessantly, and review this website at a break neck pace. I don't believe in "cut-and-paste" reviews. If someone took their time to write it, then the least I can do is give them an honest, detailed assessment, to the best of my limited abilities.
Good luck to you in the contest. I feel your "pain", LOL.

Thanks for reading my little story, Dean, and for sharing your comments. I have so much more to do now that I'm retired that there's no way I could ever be bored. Thanks for your good luck wish for the contest.

I'd sure prefer that over slaving through two jobs and working 7 days a week. Ugh. Working on that. Enjoyed hearing about your day though. Thanks for sharing! :)

Every sporting goods story in my area has a mounted jackalope. My Laz-E-Boy is worn out. It's a rough life but somebody has to live it.

LOL, LIJ Red. Is there anything better than a recliner that has molded to shape your behind? Thanks so much for reading and for your review. Thanks.

I absolutely agree with you, where does the time go? Well narrated within the space constraints of the contest. A touch of light-hearted humour and an enjoyable read. Good luck in the contest. Faye

very witty short write you have here. I know it's hard getting out of that chair and I'm only semi-retired. I work sometimes 3 days a week for a half a day and spend the rest of the time sitting my life away :(

Thanks for reading this short story, Mauial. I do lots of other things besides keep my rear in the chair, but it couldn't be over 100 words. LOL. I really appreciate your comments and thanks for your kind review. Recliners Unite!
