Congratulations on yet another contest win, Kar.

I 'nap' and 'recline' a lot. I also have to go out occasionally to replenish my 'liquor' stores.

Does that make me a 'slug', too?

Of course not, as I spend every minute to...erm...OK, I guess I am. LOL

Cheers, Ray xx

Another win?? I haven't won any contests since July. LOL I took a break.

Thanks for your fun and entertaining review, Ray. I always appreciate your comments for anything I scribble and post.
    Smiles,
    Kar :-)

Sounds like retirement has been good for you. It all sounds like a blast to me, all but having to walk to the liquor store. Now you just need someone to deliver the booze. Who needs exercise after retirement age, looking at 20 years at best, on average. If we retire in decent shape, we can coast that far. Great job. :-)

Thanks for your review and comments for my little story, Ric. I hadn't planned on taking an early retirement, but it's working out okay. I do miss the preemie babies I took care of for 35 years, though. I don't walk to the liquor store, I walk to the tofu store. Lol
    Thanks!

Good for you! For not making too many liquor store runs. In our stories, our characters can do anything they want, including our selves. I don't drink, but I have gotten too comfortable in that darn La-Z-boy. :-)

I am pretty fond of my recliner too. However, I find if I spend to much time there, retired on not, the laundry piles up, the dust collects and the bed still must be made. Well done, I could imagine your day. :-) Carolyn

Thank you for your kind review and comments for my little story, Carolyn. Yes, of course I have the usual chores and must-do activities that help fill the day, but who wants to hear about that? Lol thanks for reading!

Unless we are occupied with a healthy activity and interest, the day will speed with a feeling of pointlessness and speeding time! My wife and I have used what talent we have to pursue those things in retirement, but I like your chances in this contest, well written, well done, good luck, blessings, Roy.

Roy, you do realize that this is supposed to be a humorous look into my day and is an embellishment of all the things I didn't list? I only had 100 words to meet the guidelines for the contest, and wouldn't have near the room to write about all my retirement activities that are far from pointless and makes the day fly by. Thank you for taking the time to read and share your comments. Thanks for your review.

I loved the word picture you drew of the couch slug and the frank admittance of how little is accomplished. I did wonder, though, with nothing much done, if time really flew? Good job.

LOL I do way more than I said in the poem, mommerry, but I only had 100 words and those things didn't fit into the humor of the piece. The days FLY by ... Really. It amazes me every day. Thanks for reading my little story and for taking the time to review and share your comments.

I loved your short essay on retirement. I just retired in June and have found much truth in your work. Wow! I don't know how I ever found time to work. Nice picture and good composition. Good luck in the contest.

You have settled down to a nice retired life having a little bit of time for hobbies and entertainment. If one is clear, as you appear to be, about what to do, when to do and how you want to do, retirement can be the best period of one's life. You have summarised your activities in an excellent way and your entry should be the prise-winning. Best of luck!

You do make lounging around in a recliner an entertaining goal. Such a fine recliner too. :)) Pleased you have entertained us with this piece full of wit and with a sense of fun. So pleased you do manage a few other things in your typical day. Humorous ... and I love the conclusion, "Where'd the day go?". The other entries are fine ... this does stand out with excellent writing skills. I enjoyed the "slug", "scared jackalope". Love the nap to prepare you for the evening's activities. Really, a terrific read. Best wishes for the contest. Warm Regards - Lovinia xoxo

Thank you for your great review and fun comments for my little story, Lovi. I do indeed have many other things I do out of the recliner, but I only had 100 words I could use. Lol. I'm glad you enjoyed the story, and thanks so much for sharing your thoughts.

I didn't plan on it, but I took an early retirement, and i love it more than I thought I would. I miss my tiny preemie babies and the nurses I worked with, but I sure don't miss that alarm clock every morning. :-)
reply by Lovinia on 23-Sep-2014
I'm just imagining you enjoying that armchair. lol I thought you would never retire from the babes. Well a new era opens for you .... alarm clocks should come with their own hammer ... lol ... pardon the pun ... it's 3.30 am here ... what can one expect at this time of the morning???

My computer connection has been on 'snail' rate ALL day ... finally it works ... after mid-night. I might spend the day in my recliner .... sleeping.

Ahhh ... I wonder what the rest of the world is doing?????

Happy Retirement to you!! LOL :)))
