Very nicely written poem. I enjoyed reading it.
Well composed,all the stanzas blended
just the syllable count at times was not even to me.
Best of luck in the contest

Thank you very much for your review, lalajovanoski. I appreciate your comment about the syllable count. The poem is written in iambic heptameter, a form much favoured by 16th century English poets. Which line(s) are you referring to? I have re-checked, and as far as I can see, each line has the required fourteen syllables.

So much truth in such a lovely array of words and astute parting thought. There is a taste of atmosphere holding unrelieved, enveloping grief. Hope is possibly the most cleansing feature one can strive to maintain; without hope, I do believe we perish alongside power.

Beautifully written, theresa. The rhyme is excellent, the cadence and rhythm smooth and not forced, and the verse, beautiful. What more can one ask of a poem? Brilliant in my books.

This is such a powerful poem. My interest was caught by the first line and it just kept going from there. You can feel the despair and the grief for the ones who are lost....so well written

A descriptive write, Tony.
Its amazing what one can do with the skyline or waterline where objects take form.
I remember another poem from you from a similar perspective. I enjoy these as it is good to see if one also see what you see.
Good delivery.
Best wishes,
RG

Well written, hope and faith for loved ones to come home. I like the mother and child stand alone with dreams. Hope that carries us and faith for those we love. Congrats!

Thanks, Roy! I've always been struck by them. It's a favourite walk of mine at any time of the year.

If we keep faith with those we love, though they be far away,
I was thinking far away is not only physical distance but also mental distance of angst and anger and mistrust between couples and parents and children.
Paranoya as well and the medication
And the love and hope is what might bring back loved ones.Z.

A wonderfully written, powerfully uplifting and positive message you have conveyed in perfect ABAB rhyme, Tony. A seafaring adventure, with carefully chosen, eloquent wording to showcase the powers of hope, and the allure of dreams.
Wonderfully composed, and beautifully presented.
You should do extremely well in the contest.
Good luck!
