So many descriptive verses that create great imagery for the reader. Fun to read and great rhyming
I love the last two lines
]If joy is measured by the smile
this task will take a long, long while.

Good to ponder over. Yes a long time.

Aah, so sweet and delightfully perfect for the book of children's verse. I can see myself reading this one to a little child like Sawyer. Very pleasant reading, Giddy

No six to give for the smile
So please, enjoy this five
It's given in my own style
Call it Buck-a-roo jive

Enough for now... Enjoyed your joy measured by smiles, Buck

This is why watching children at play is such a delight. They get pleasure out of things we take for granted. A wealth of details to show not tell. My favorite line:
sun as bright as lemon jello,
I love the picture. Is there anyway to stop Sawyer from growing up?

Spitfire, if you find anyone selling a potion that would do that, send the info on to me :-) Thanks so much, my friend. Brooke

This is excellent as usual. And it makes the reader smile when reading it. It is definitely a 'feel good' piece. And the artwork with Sawyer's smiles is a perfect accompaniment.

Did you know that it takes more muscles to frown than it does to smile? Children are smiling more these days than adults - children don't fuss and bother over the state of the world, we do. Best stanza - Drums that beat and birds that sing, waves that roar and bells that ring (loved it)trucks that line the toy store aisle, placed on shelves to make me smile." Maybe we would smile more if we had some toys instead of wars?

Thanks so much, Kay - yep, Sawyer is at that blissful age when the only battles he knows about involve who gets to control trampoline time at My Gym LOL :-) Brooke

Such a sweet poem! And I love the cute pics! :) :) "sun as bright as lemon jello," Mmm...jello. LOL Very nice, and I needed a "smiley" poem after a long day at work. Thanks for sharing!

A british friend, long gone, said the largest number you can express with three digits is "nine to the ninth to the ninth." The burst of couplets is rhyming, vivid and young at heart. Excellent.

LIJ, thank you - I will take the Brit's word for it as calculating numbers tends to make me queasy :-) Brooke

Hi Brooke,

Another wonderfully written poem. Oh, and the pictures of Sawyer are darling. He is a little doll for sure. I haven't seen little Dylan for ages and now he went to Wisc. with his grandma and grandpa. I really need to write more poems about him.

Brooke: I think that Sawyer's world is expanding with all the sights, sounds and shopping trips. So many things to do and see with family. Joy is a terrific feeling and a smile can brighten your day. Awesome visuals of the world of a child. We should all be childlike. Are you going to publish this story as a children's book? I like the colors, sounds, and items a child can touch. Well written.

Thank you so much, flylikeaneagle, for your thoughtful comments and encouragement. Working on publishing is a task I need to tackle. Brooke :-)

Brooke: Maybe, FanStory has connections with artists and publishers to have a collection of children story books and poetry to be published and sold for real. This can be in the hands of children at librarys and laps of families reading stories. I love to read your poetry!
