Indeed an immeasurable smile Brooke and this is the second smile themed poem I have read and reviewed today.
So much feeling can be conveyed through a genuine smile.
I've notice when it's a real smile, the eyes just sparkle.
No need to count the smiles, just enjoy them. What a gorgeous little man he is. I'm seeing heartbreak for the girls down the track! LOL Perfectly rhymed as always with a wisdom that's hard to challenge, fault or impersonate.
Always enlightened AND inspired by your work...I remain in debt to you forever.

What a delightfully happy poem. It made me smile to read it. It reminds me of the boundless joy my little boys have when viewing even the mundane things in this world.

What a delightful thought, measuring life by smiles. There are so many good things listed in your poem. Miracles by the dozens. Gratitude is a wonderful way to live life.
Excellent rhymes and proximate rhymes.
Thanks for making me smile.

Hello adewpearl, Brooke, All I could do as I read each line and verse is smile ... Obviously, it is deliciously contagious. I especially liked:
If joy were measured by the smile
like maps are measured by the mile
and life is measured off in time,
how could I ever measure mine?
(We can't smile without joy.)
I also liked the following analogy:
sun as bright as lemon jello
(Brooke, I've never tried lemon jello, but after you have implanted this wonderful imagery within my mind, I think I'll try lemon jello, i.e. on my next hospital trip - lol. Hopefully it will be a very long while.)
A fun poem with silky rhyming. Keep the blue waters flowing. LateBloomer

I really hate doling out a six to the first review in more than a year. Luckily, I picked your posting to look at first. It deserves at least a sixer. My wife, Alyce has a new great grandson, now one year old. The photo looks somewhat like him. Their smiles are much alike, Alyce says. Wonderful meter, as usual, and spiffy rhymes. You should keep it until he's old enough to read it.

Beautiful and most appropriate photos and seven charming quatrains about one of life's cheeky chappies. I like the steady rhythm and style and the pictures painted for the eyes of a child simply glad to be the subject of so much joy. no wonder he just keeps on smiling whether he can count them all or not

Those are all the things that make me smile too. Wonderfully rhymed and a fun thought to play with. If joy could really be measured perhaps it would be by giggles.

Another wonderful gem inspired by your wondrous muse.
When do we adults stop responding to all of the miracles of life with a smile?
You have inspired me. I do intend to make sure that I get back in the smiling habit.
Sawyer sure looks like Miranda. I love the photos that you post.
Hugs, d

thanks so much, Diane, for your generous stars and thoughtful comments. This is why I love Emily so much. She gets such wonderful poetry from the smallest things, like watching a bird walk down her walkway as it eats a worm and then flies off. Most people would never even notice, let alone think it was worth mentioning that night during dinner conversation - and surely most people wouldn't think it worthy of a poem :-) Little children have the kind of wonder Emily never lost.
