Mikey, I really enjoy this write as you lace in history with fiction but making it seem so real. It is classy and communicates the human condition deeply. :0 GracieAnn

All well done battle strategy in process. This plot could lend it's self to many scenarios.

While researching Scottish clan history for my genealogy I read that the old Scottish clans fought bloody wars with each other for year and then decide to join ranks against another clan.

They sealed the agreement by each chief forcing a son or daughter to marry the other's son or daughter. The shared grandchcildren bonded them together.

Can't help but wonder what those marriages must have been like. Talk about "inlaw issues".

Also Viking, notorious for swiping young women for wives created the present population on Iceland and Greenland.

Some research needed here, my limited info came from watching one show on the history channel.

They over lapped in their attack - overlapped
Good use of dialogue that sounds like soldiers strategizing and preparing for battle - it also conveys emotions of urgency well
good background material for your characters
good pacing leading up to the battle to come

The story is progressing nicely. I like how you recap at the beginning of each chapter. I also enjoy the battle strategies of both generals told simultaneously.

That's good to hear. It is a good way for me to have it unfold. I'm bad with time and distance and all that. So, having it happen kind of all at the same time keeps me from forgetting something major. Thank you, mikey

I like the way you are presenting this. You are keeping me anxious about what is to happen. Great writing. I found one small nit you may or may not want to look at:

Destiny awaits no man! ...not sure this works, possible Destiny awaits would make more sense...just a suggestion.

Glad you're liking it. It's actually keeping me on my toes for a change. I have to use my little brain to remember where everyone is and how they are progressing etc. Ahhhhh!!! It's almost like work! I'll look at that line. mikey

Glad you did, Mikey. Great story, and I've missed it. Sorry if you're having connection or computer problems. "Get well soon" message from me to your electronic pals. :)

My neighbors finally got to meet me after two years. Ha! Actually internet is part of my pay. That is the problem with my broke boss! Soon, I hope. He's a great guy, but not too business savvy. Can't complain though, a free house with crazy people to entertain me! mikey

    a free house????

Well, I don't pay rent or utilities. I should get paid, but I'd take care of the folks anyway. He's a good guy and has sacrificed a lot when others would have put everyone out on the street, so no complaints. :)

I have to admit, I got a little lost in this one. Once the focus is off vision and sound, unfamiliar (not just new characters, but linguistically unfamiliar ) names were hard to keep track of. Just wondering- is this battle modeled after a historic battle?

Very well written, devising a battle strategy is no mean feat. I liked all the diversions to fool the enemy. Interesting to see how it progresses. Good dialogue and great story. Faye

The tension builds, you are good at that as well as the authenticity of battle strategy and commands. Your language of the times is definitely improving. Can't wait until the battle begins. Hope you're back on line soon. Libraries are a great place to be, however. Loren
