Good advice in your notes. Our Bible class has been going through the Bible starting in Genesis and after a couple of years, we are in Job. So much history, so much to learn - and not being a Jew - it's like learning another culture. But also, many answers.

Cute story too.

Blessings
Janet

If I had it to do over again, I would start with the Apostle Paul's teachings. God bless you and thanks for reading. Glad you like it, Dennis

I saw a Pastor once make a joke like that....we were sitting together....and across from us was an old wore out man...shaking...maybe for need of alcohol. He tapped me on the knee and whispered....sure glad were not like him huh...? Sounds just like Jesus don't it...? I heard the Highest Priest...ever....say this: "All things have been handed over to Me by My Father; and no one knows the Son, except the Father; nor does anyone know the Father except the Son, and...anyone the SON wills to reveal Him. All who are weary and heavy laden come to Me and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls" Always love ....Michael

Yes, sometimes we need a word of love and encouragement, other times a word of love and correction. Such is the wisdom of the Father that He provides both for His born-again children...Dennis

I just got an idea from your notes. Perhaps someone could do a new translation in the style of Dr. Seuss, complete with pictures. At least it would get read. :)

Cute joke, by the way. Smart Deacon.

Good idea...and thanks for reading. Not trying to be a smart aleck (who was Aleck anyway?) but will your novel ever be completed? :) Dennis

Where did you ever find the perfect picture to go with this amusing story. "Clear the cobwebs" --what a great way to think of asking for spiritual guidance. Now to get back to housecleaning. L0L

Those who ask, receive. Housecleaning is a joke at your home? :) It is at ours. Blessings to the Babe of FS, Dennis

"The bible teaches that a father may sell his daughter for a slave (Ex, xxi, 7), that he may sacrifice her purity to a mob (Judges xix, 24), and that he may murder her, and still be a good father and a holy man. It teaches that a man may have any number of wives; that he may sell them, give them away, or change them around, and still be a perfect gentleman, a good husband, a righteous man, and one of God's most intimate friends; and that is a pretty good start." This is a stupid comment...so glad you are only quoting! It shows again the need for a person to be born-again by faith in Christ in order to truly understand the Word of God.

It's amazing how some who personally endorse destructive life styles will condemn it when they see it in the Bible or the lives of Christians.

A first grader in scripture knows that the bible gives an honest record of both good and evil in the lives of both saints and sinners.

Such reporting of evil does not carry with it the commendation of that evil. God consistently reproves and corrects His own beloved when they stray. Only sinners try to cover up and deny their sinfulness and that of their friends.

God judged sin in the Person of His own Son. He did not spare His own Son when Christ carried your sin and mine into His Father's presence. So God showed for all time and to all men what His holy stand is on sin.

God also showed His great love in offering sinners a way of true life and blessing by simply trusting what Jesus did for us.

The greatest sin is to ignore this offer. It's also the most foolish and the most committed by those who think themselves wise in this world. Dennis

I like the humorous pairing of artwork and anecdote - an effectively related message about going after the source of those metaphoric cobwebs :-) Brooke

Thanks Brooke...I have had my share of said cobwebs. One old New Englander told me (speaking of real cobwebs) "cobwebs are poor man's lace." :) Dennis

After a year of this, one old Deacon could stand it no longer. He rose to his feet and prayed, "Oh Lord, kill the spider!"

Hi 22, this is a beautiful way to open eyes of each reader, how important it is to listen and read the Bible. We can go to so many places through our readings, we fortify our beliefs in our Lord Jesus. As without our faith in the Lord, we are bound to suffer more. Terry
