I enjoyed your poem, Brooke. It took some thinking from my past midnight brain, but your message says to me that what is glorious for some, can mean tragedy to another. I like the rhyme pattern of the rispetto.

I have always felt that the Rispetto is rather an awkward style of poetry, and yet you managed to make this one lovely and meaningful. Very nicely done, Brooke.

Your mechanics are perfect and the poem is terrific - I first thought to say lovely - but on second look, figured lovely and a Starfish funeral were not to be in the same phrase. That said, I really like the artwork with this one - reminds me of Maine during one of those ugly storms - pretty much why I live in central Virgina!! Jean

Jean, thank you so much for your thoughtful comments - and yes, lovely seems a tad upbeat for the poor, dead starfish LOL :-) Brooke

To adewpearl,
A matter of fierce and violent winds can overturn and evacuate
the smallest or largest apparatus at the least opportune times
leaving havoc and destruction everywhere.
Charlene
P.S. My apologies do not know how an rispetto poem is to be executed.

Thank you so much, Charlene - it is a simple form - 8 lines divided into two quatrains with a rhyme scheme of abab ccdd. :-) Brooke

As always I enjoy your work. You chose the perfect artwork. I have just seen another of lynnieellie's paintings of an angry sea. Like how you brought in the little starfish to give it a more personal side. Structure sound.

a rispetto 'A Storm Came Crashing.' This is a magnificent poem about a storm that you have created here, Brooke. A great rispetto to be remembered. Well done.

Sounds as if the starfish died. I read this as a metaphor between a power figure as in a boss, a parent, bully. (Storm) and the starfish as the brow-beaten one. Trust me, I know some loud mouths who terrify those who are passive.
That used to be me!

The rispetto form is so lovely and you have created a wonderful mood with the storm and the starfish. It is a bit tragic for the starfish though as the powerful storm releases its fury and finds release.

This is a dramatic poem, Brooke, with powerful and interesting verbs and a neat little story. I like that you capitalized Storm and Starfish, those natural characters from nature which you personified. And of course the rispetto form is faithfully executed. Love, Jeanie
