This lovely poem is like a rhyming journal. Loss love is devastating and only the fortunate finds true love a second time. Thanks for sharing it with us.

I have been very lucky, and know it. It makes me appreciate more, what I have and I feel very sad when I hear of others who spend the rest of their lives alone after losing the love of their lives. Thank you so much for your lovely words, seaglass, I am so pleased you enjoyed my poem. :) Sandra xsx

Thank you, Rox. That is so nice of you. My sons and their children are the best thing that happened to me. Through them I am able to love. Thanks again, my friend. xsx Sandra :)

Nice and a thankfully happy poem, ending in your new found love. Actually Seven stanzas or five stanzas and two couplets rhyming and flowing nicely metered along.
It's Biblical too & in the exact moment of time, as it was planned from all eternity.

Hi Sandra,
Your notes took me by surprise. I hadn't realized you lost your first husband. Perhaps that is why this piece rings of truth and feeling. I'm so glad you found love again.
Hugs,
Lou

Thank you, Lou, I think a few people were surprised that I was widowed. I was young, and my 2 sons just children. It was hard losing Brian and I missed him so much, but I had our wonderful sons. I am so pleased you enjoyed my poem. :) xsx Sandra

There are no laws written in stone that forbids a widow, or a widower to remarry. This is very well written with a smooth flow of words, making for a good read.

solid rhyming couplets
good alliteration in feeling fine
good assonance in stretched and felt
you convey the speaker's feelings well in this sad story about waking up to realize her beloved is no longer sharing her bed or her life
I also like the turn in tone as she finds new love
wedding bands - do you mean wedding banns?
what a lovely poem of finding love twice in a lifetime

I knew that was wrong, but couldn't think of the right word. LOL, that is age for you. Thank you Brooke, yes, I meant 'banns' it will still go alright, won't it? Yes, I have been very lucky, and more so because my wonderful sons think of Graham as a friend as well. They were too old to take him as a step-father, which is fine, they still keep their father in their hearts as do I. Thank you for your lovely review, Brooke. :) Sandra.

yes, it still works just fine as a proximate rhyme
That is wonderful that your entire family is on board :-) That does NOT happen with many families

Hi Sandra :)
Good luck in the contest with your beautiful poem.
I'm not surprised your grandchildren love to hear your story again and again - how lovely to have had the fortune to marry two such dear men - a true life happy ever after... of course, no story is complete without some heartache and I'm certain that losing Brian was the worst of the worst for you... huge hugs xx
Lots of love, Debra xx

Thank you so much, Debra. Yes, I didn't think I would every get over losing him. My sons helped me, without them I don't know what would have happened. We do go on though, and life goes on. Thank you for your lovely words, Debra. :) Sandra. xsx

I've felt moved by this piece. A haunting fate alongside uplifting renewel. This may inspire many to not feel ashamed for giving life and what it entails another go.

Hi Sandy.....-smile-...you hold no shame...no dishonor owns your name. You were the face of Jesus to Brian...as he learned to let go his shackle. No betrayal of covenant promised....you were widowed. Would he want you alone and afraid...-headshake-...no. I used to listen to this man...a pastor...Dr. Charles Stanly.....his wife...divorced him....and the shame nearly killed him....yet he kept getting up...and praising the love of God....I was gut wretched ripped open for him when I found out....I believe his son mentioned it in a sermon.....I was still married at the time....and ahh didn't know. You don't dishonor God or Brain...its okay Sandy....always love ....Michael
