Stunning depiction.
Well paced and presented 'panoum' with slightly (ever so...) modified phrasing.
The word play around 'death' and 'Falls' implied mourning are very good.
I think 'that spell that steals our breath' stole mine this morning as we awakened to an unexpected 'crispness' in our cool September air.
Immensely enjoyed.

This is a very lyrical poem with lovely imagery. The words flow nicely. It gives me the message that, no matter how much time we have, we should be happy and create as much as we can.

"For one brief spell she stops death's clock, but Time, relentless, soon demands she robe herself in widow's frock,
for no one stops Time's moving hands." - This stanza is absolutely stunning as it is so rich in passionate imagery. An inspiring read and I thank you so much for sharing it with me.

Great as always. I hoped while I was gone for a while you would get really awful so I could become the best poet on here. =} Kidding of course. I love autumn, but is FL we don't get the color changes, but it does get cooler and I love that.

911 did start out so nice, but ended in such tragedy that just went on and on and still goes on. I hope we never see the like again.

Hope all is well with you and your little grandson. Bet he is getting so big. They don't stay little long enough.

Take care, Rox

I wish I had read this sooner - it's both a fitting tribute and a wonderful seasonal, nature poem. The photo is stunning and the actual clothing of Autumn in such beautiful colours and Time as allegories is excellent. The rhyme is excellent too - I like the forms you use. Wish I had a six left for this, Brooke. Sorry I don't. Best wishes, Pete :)

This is another one of you beautifully rhymed poems It reminds me of the language of the old masters in poetry. I think of autumn in happy terms not as death. I love the colors and smells.

When I was little, my mother spoke of autumn as a women as well. She said she dressed the trees in their colorful dresses and then Father Winter came and put them to bed when the party was over. Winter brings rest time for the Spring's 'coming-out party"

Well, there is a good reason that you are number one. This is perfect and perfect for me at this particular time and mood I find myself in. Sorry, no six left. No matter, because no ranking can do this justice. This is truly one I will revisit, Brooke. I'm in awe. My God, even the colors are brilliantly chosen! LOL Bruce.

Wow, this is so good. I really enjoyed the vivid descriptions of the changing of the leaves. So aptly put and so picturesque in your wonderful rhymes. Winter as the robes of widow seem so perfect. This is a really wonderful poem, Brooke.

Hi Brooke,

No one dares defy time, indeed. But then, many of us would like to I think. Nice way to mark the changing seasons and the passage of the year again.

Patrick
