Your tales of horror has far exceeded Poe's. You have better tools to work with. This is very well written with an interesting flow of words.

I was so invested in this I hardly know where to begin. The way you describe color with contrast between black and white, that "Crow and alibaster snow." It had me glancing out my window and imagining being in a bungalow, sorrounded by snow and with a lonely crow. I just love the way you bring certain phrases to life like "silken smoothness." You have left a mark on poetry like no other, not even Poe. Stan

My, my! no one will really beat you in this genre where you shine best, the macabre, the bizarre, horrific, frightening, et al.. I agree with their assumptions, Edgar could have been your muse. I enjoyed the read, but I must admit, this is not my genre, though I tried posting poor samples of my own, compared to yours. More power my friend, God bless.

Wow! This is great, Edgar -- I mean, Dean! Even though you missed the contest, I'm glad you decided to post anyway.

Your words move with a great rhythm, and your rhyming, both perfect and proximate, is well done. And your use of enjambment and alliteration add to the lovely movement of the lines.

I hope you are okay! Just a check-up?

Thanks for sharing another extraordinary poem, Dean. Alana

What a fantastic tribute. This is one of your best. Too bad you missed the deadline, but hey! Maybe it helped in creating this? The rhyming is wonderfully smooth. Great alliteration. I usually quote a favorite section, but the whole just keeps pace, never gets weak. Superb! Les

It amuses me that you missed the prompt, Mr. Horror himself, due to a cardiologist appointment. No wonder your heart pumps like a freight train, look what you write and are obsessed with .
What really caught my attention was the music.. you see.. I never have my sound on when I read and review because I am watching (listening) to TV. So when I clicked on the poem to read and the music started it scared the s#^$ out of me.
terrific tribute to Poe and the Raven. very darkly written in the most sinister mood. Dean, you are my hero of horror . Going to turn my hall light on now.

What a terrific poem! I'm a great fan of Edgar Allen Poe, and you captured his spirit with perfection. the music was a real interesting bit of ambiance. You surely would have won if you had not missed that pesky deadline. You are already a winner to many of us. Thank you. Caroline

So sorry your missed the contest. This is the work of the Dean we have all come to know and love. Excellent mono-rhyme, pictures and presentation. Maybe Edgar is your muse. If so, you do him proud.

Blessings
Janet

PS: hope your cardiologist appointment went well.
