I was a huge fan of Poe in my earlier years. I must say you have captured something of him in this poem, Dean. I think there's a well we all draw from and you, I believe, are drawing from that well. The music was an absolutely eerie touch to this sad, sad poem. Great job! :) Bev

I very much enjoyed this poem! I wouldn't have had to read the description to know what you were doing and I think that's awesome! Poe is a great muse to have - of that were so. Your diction is great and I love the way the whole thing flows.

Hi Dean,

I think you channel old Edgar. From a metaphysical POV, all thought is energy which is constantly alive in the cosmos. So, where do our ideas come from and are they really our own, ponder ponder. Another good one, Dean. I always enjoy reading your spooky stuff.

Hugs,
Lou

I am sure you would have done well in the contest. As always, your poem is very well written and excellently presented. Well done as always.

I salute the muse in you, I salute the quill with which was scribbled and the daunting dim candle that provided the low light when this poem was being penned (or is it quilled?). The mono-rhyme scheme is a delight. I love the surprise addition of the music. Great poetic art.

Hell Dean, my dear wonderful madman(in the most warm hearted way). The music was a good surprise The words, well the poem, so fun and so well....am i ever glad i do not share your dreams...whatever is in your cupboards, what ever family pets your have are no doubt black and having telling eyes...
may your muse at least not have Hitchcok over for dinner, for I fear for your pot roast.

I hope you appointment was ok...you know how I feel about Cardiologists, they are the mad scientists with high pitched giggles and ready blades...or perhaps the male wirch in Princess Bride...

I digress...

ah well...the six say it more clearly than i am able to ...

Great poem. I love how the story develops into a tale of a creature dark and mysterious changing into a demon like bard. I have never thought of my Muse as a person with a name. I will have to think of who my Muse might be,

The photo looks more like a malevolent TS Elliot. A graphic and gruesome description of suffering brought to bear on one's self due to adulation of the long tormented Edgar Allen. I had no idea, till now, anyone could use The 'O' rhyme so frequently, so long, with such effectiveness. Kenny

I think what I love most about your poetry, besides the darkness of it, is the way you write. To me it's purple prose, but for poems, not novels. It is a great gift you have. Thanks so much for sharing.
