Very nice! I admit I didn't know very much about Poe until I created a book trailer for someone that wrote a book about him. Now I can read this awesome poem and know exactly what you're talking about! :) This particular poetry prompt has brought out some interesting work. Yours definitely among the best. Thanks for sharing!

    Thanks a bunch, jaeladarling. I'm flattered that you felt it was one of the best, despite not being entered in the contest.

    All the best to you, my friend. :}

Thanks for the pleasure of another of your outstanding poems written with your usual expertise and abundant vocabulary. I have never written poetry, and never planned to read or write it, but I always enjoy yours. Great job. :-)

What's this about a heart specialist? I missed that news somehow. I hope everything came out okay. It's a shame
that you missed the deadline because this would have been a great entry. Edgar Allen Poe mourned his love (Lenore?) didn't he? I didn't know he wrote horror stories. Having him for a muse would set a fella up for success. LOL Pleasant Screams to you too.xox Nancy

    Thanks, Nancy, I really appreciate it.

    My heart only pumps at 20% of a normal hearts capacity. It's caused from the near fatal heart attack I had when we lived in Jersey in 2010. I had to have a defibrillator implanted to constantly monitor my heart. And we both know what happens if I go into cardiac arrest. I get the shock of my life...literally.

    Poe wrote several horror stories, the most famous being the Tomb of Ligeia, and the Tell-tell Heart.

    Have yourself a wonderful evening. :)

    Oh, I remember the Tell-Tale Heart. Never heard of the other one.. I have three stents in mine. They wanted me to have surgery but I declined so they gave me another stent.Are you okay?

    Yeah, thanks, I've been this way for a few years. They had to do some adjustments on my defib to correct a minor glitch in the signal, but they fixed it, and I'm good now. Well, as good as I'm gonna get, LOL

Glad you did post. Hope your cardio test went well. With this kind of writing, surely it will keep your heart beating - it is a "tell-tale" sign isn't it. I'm so impressed. I have a hard time coming up with two rhyming words and here you've come up with what - - 36! Amazing :) Loren

    Thanks, Loren (7), you are very kind. I really appreciate the wonderful review and rating.

    They had to make some minor adjustments to the settings on my defibrillator, but other than that I'm A-OK. Thanks so much for asking, I really appreciate it. :}

If you had been entered in the contest, no one could have beaten this entry unless they offered them welfare checks, free cell phones, subsidized housing, help with utility bills, free healthcare, and free bus rides to the voting polls. Then---you would have been in trouble. Hope all went well at the cardiologist. I'm sure he told you to stop scaring the crap out of people. Fantastic piece of work. This one needs to be on your wall.

Hi Dean,

Bummer to miss a deadline when you've obviously put a lot of work into this. It shows, because it was an enjoyable read.

Hope the cardiologist didn't run you through the paces too much! They can be demanding folks!

Take Care

Cheers & Blessings

    No, not really, Jax. There was a small problem with my defibrillator so it took a bit longer than usual, that's all. But, all is well now. :)

    Thanks so much for the thoughtful review.

See, I knew it; you've written something sooo scary, that you gave yourself a slight heart mummer. Yeah, I have to see a cardiologist myself. Another great scary one Dean. I know you would have won this.

    Thanks, amahra, I really appreciate that. Yeah, I have to go get my defibrillator checked regularly, just to make sure it's picking up the signals OK. There was a slight glitch, but the were able to rectify it, so all's well now.

    Thanks for the kind review, my friend.
