Very good.
Visually compelling.
The technical aspects of the octogram appears intact, but the spiders weaving and the victim's demise are so artfully portrayed that, for me, the genre fades immediately into the background for the sake of the narrative.
Again, very good.

Hi Brooke,
I loved your construction of this poem and when recited aloud the pauses added another magic ring to the story of... you are a very clever lady, who uses her muse so effectively... this little man was born to be in front of a camera.

With our thoughts we create,
the reasons to why,
James xx

A shroud in place of a shawl, how sad. But such is life. I'm still holding out for the buzzing bee. Even though they do help pollinate those dandelion and butter cups at least you can hear them coming:) Loren

Brooke:

I absolutely love the look Miranda caught on Sawyer's
face. It is that face of wonder that children have that
too many of us have let get away from us. He just gets
more and more adorable all the time. Too bad he and
Alexis don't live close together so they could play
together.

love,
jan

Awesome, I'm smiling big! The word shawl used in the description was sheer genius. I've been gone from Fanstory or many years, it's wonderful to see you still here!!

A nice poem with a cute picture. Banff is a beautiful park that I'm usually so busy driving through on my way somewhere else that I don't really pay attention to what there is to see. I hope you enjoyed it. I learn so much with the author's notes. Brent.

Thank you so much, Brent. That sounds like Valley Forge Park, a few miles from me. People travel through it on their daily commutes and don't even notice what attracts folks from all over the world to visit it. Brooke

thank you for taking the time to review, megomo. The octogram is one of my favorite forms, but I understand different forms will appeal to different tastes. I for example, detest the crown of sonnets, though most reviewers here rave over poems done in that format. Brooke

May we all carry the curiosity and willingness to learn that this wonderful poem portrays. So many wondrous things around us, even in things that seem mundane. Nice work!

Wonderful photo and wonderful poem.
I especially love the line about the spider.
"a spider spins her silken thread
till like a lacy shawl it spreads, "
When my children were young they loved to go out in the morning and look at the amazing artistic webs the spiders spun at night. The dew looked like diamonds on lace. I do not like spiders but love their art work. : )
Thanks again for a beautiful poem.
Blessings, Cheryl

That made me laugh.. Fireflies yes... dragonflies NO..lol
They are amazing and my grandson thinks they look like special op helicopters...(where is my spell check???)
    Love your poetry

sorry.. I mixed up Nancy's bug with your spider.. I chose none of the above. ..Sorry.. I guess spell check is not all I need.

Beautiful use of poetic form to tell a tale about the spider weaving a web and catching a bee. There is a fantasy feel to your flow of words that makes this an enchanting poem to read.
