Time flies. He will like this poem comparing a found sunbeam with his smile. I bet you spoil him rotten when you visit.
He looks gorgeous when he smiles.

Excellent subtle personification of the sun at the end and a wonderful, whimsical inclusion of scientific fact. It is truly stunning when you thing just how far that beam traveled to warm and light your face. Tell Sawyer to have fun at school.

I am constantly and I mean that sincerely, constantly amazed at how you are able to express (so well) how the world is presented to you. It like I've received a gift every time I read your work. As you can tell I liked this, especially because you didn't mention the dandelions :) Loren

Brooke, This photo is the most precious picture of Sawyer. It really hurts when they start school....for the grandma!! I know, I have the picture of my grandson climbing up onto the school bus for his first day. It's like a slap in the face with a 2x4. Grandma's realize that our grandchildren aren't ever going to be babies again. But, there is a new life ahead for him. I said to Jayme, "What did you learn today?" He said, "I didn't learn anything today. I'm going to learn it all tomorrow!"

This is a shining example of the sunny poems that you write everyday. Beautiful. Hugs and Smiles. Carole

I am laughing so hard at Jayme's answer. LOL
Sawyer, at 28 months, isn't ready for a school bus yet, thank goodness. :-) Miranda went to a class orientation a couple days ago and learned that Sawyer is the only one in the class who is potty trained. LOL :-) Brooke

You know Brooke, I thought I was loosing it. I didn't think five years had slipped by without me remembering!! He must be going to pre-school. Those are challenging days too. Ha. Smiles. Carole

Nope, he's not five - he's not even two and a half yet LOL That's why he's only going three days a week for 4 hour sessions - Miranda wants him to play with other kids more than he gets to now. I think the hardest lessons they will have will be learning to ride a tricycle. LOL :-)

Hi Brooke - Such a lovely final stanza to a very good poem with some astronomical information thrown in for good measure. Flows beautifully. So Sawyer has reached that inevitable stage - off to school. Part time, then full time and before you know it ....... but you know all that. Kind regards Dorothy

I like the line the sun that's beaming from your eyes each time you smile at me. Great use of descriptive words that I can picture in my head. And I have a friend that when he smiles the sun beans from his eyes. Wonderful poem.

I don't believe it! He is too young. What school?
Kindergarten? I don't doubt for a minute that he is smart enough because Miranda has taken him on an adventure all most every day and you are writing poems for him. LOL He has to be very intelligent! Love the idea behind the poem. Well done! Nancy

Nancy, thank you so much. It is a private school, Sage Academy :-) He is only 28 months old, so it is their youngest class. He's the only one going into the class who is potty trained. LOL
He is extremely smart, but they are not skipping him to kindergarten ;-) Brooke

Great poem Brooke, I always love your rhyming poems. I bet Sawyer will love school, Gracie does. She goes to a daycare school. She can count to 12. She knows her colors and shapes and she loves to talk. I think she is talking more than Wes did when he was her age. Kids are getting smarter. Thank you for sharing, Shirley

Shirley, thank you so much :-) Yep, it's amazing what little ones can do nowadays. Gracie sounds a lot like Sawyer with her skill set :-) Brooke
