Hi, really liked this poem. Every thing to spec, format and syllable count. Both stanzas very well expressed, separate yet linked to central theme of 'lake'
I see irony along with some light humour, 'Dragon flies no more' a great line. It says to me; "Well, that's the nature of nature for ya! It leaves no prisoners" Survival is the pivotal driving force. A case of being in the wrong place at the right time. Great read. xxxxxxxx

Thanks for this wonderful review and awesome rating. Yes it was a fun one to write. When my muse fails me I turn to prompts. :-) They somehow provide 'fuel' for the fire.

Perfect syllable count per line. Sounds like you were visiting our Lake Martin. It is such a beautiful place. I love the line 'dragon flies no more.' LOL

Excellent poem which paints a picture in the reader's mind.

To notesandmore,
Precious moments are caught as Mother Nature reveals to us the need to satisfy oneself by enjoyment of a lucrative day picking berries beside a water's edge.

Beautiful Haiku on the dragonflies and blackberries. The food chain and nature continue along the course of life. We cannot stop the flow of life as it unfolds each day. We can only pause and wonder where everything is taking us.
Nature has been there to fulfill our need and consumption.
The bass leaps and catches the dragonfly while the birds consume the berries. But both will reproduce to replace the loss and really nothing is loss in life as long as nature breathes and reproduce, but it is a cycle we must respect and not overdo.
Excellent write and well expressed the daily existence we experience until we perish as well, smiles.
Cheerio, hugs and love, bro Richie. :))

Hi there, where have you been? LOL Hiding out again I bet.
Thank you Ritchie for this great review. I am so happy you liked it. It is kind of funny. I have at this moment 28 fabulous reviews, some sixers and only 2 votes at the booth. It was a fun poem to write. Nature is full of subject matter.
Write something special so I can read your fine work again. I miss that.
    Love, Carolyn

I could easily believe you painted this word picture right in my locality. All that you described can be seen on any summer afternoon at our little lake.

Berries hanging lush a ripe, great line. As I read your poem it reminded me of my summers a child. Wonderfully written poem. Best of luck.

This is an interesting prompt and there are some excellent entries. I didn't count syllables, but did look for the poetic devices in the two three line poems as well as the attention to the imagery as described in the prompt. My only suggestion would be to create two grammatically interconnected lines in each of the stanzas as opposed to three separate thoughts, which seems a bit choppy to me. Good luck in the contest. Sue
