Classic story telling. Why does the mongoose always win, and why does the cobra fall for it every time. Life is like that too. I so enjoy the way you write, you use rhyme so well, and your descriptions are terrific, wish I had a 6 for you.

No sixes necessary, my dear friend. I'm just here to entertain and inspire, if I can. Your kind comments are worth far more to me that any six star rating. :)

Shades of Rikki Tikki Tavi! A fine bit of story in a rhyme, and the mongoose wins again. With your customary decoration, this was most entertaining. Well done.

He sure would be proud. I liked the tale of the two foes. reat dialogue and written in a rhythmic way. Nice story in a poem. You have action and adventure and a moral of forts. Very nicely done. You can always tell when I get hooked on the History channel. It just has to come out. Great job.

Ha ha, you got that right, GWHARGIS. I watch Animal Planet so much in fact, I'm starting to speak Chimpanzee, LOL.

Thanks for the great review and six stars! :)

Hi Dean:)
I never tire of Animal Planet, there's so much to learn. I already knew about the daily battles between deadly cobras and hungry mongooses (Is this silly sounding word really the plural of mongoose?), but your lively story in a poem makes this event memorable.

You create great visual imagery and show qhy the unsxpected outcome happens,. It is a most enjoyable poem.

I must tell you of another unpredictable battle, which I observed more than once. I once had a large goat herd on our western Kansas ranch. This was in serious rattlesnake country and those venomous monsters posed a real danger to most livestock, but not my wily goats. When goats found a rattlesnake, they provoked it to strike, but fast as the strike might be, it always missed the goats. They quickly reared up in the air and while the rattlesnake lay stretched out on the ground, a goat would bring it's shape hooves down behind the snake's head.

Surprisingly only a light blow behind the head will kill even the largest Diamondbacks.

Thank you for sharing your story. I always like your SPAG-free writing.

Wow, that's pretty cool info, Roger, and I am going to have to research what makes them know how to do that, then write a poem about it. I'll be sure to dedicate it to you for the inspiration.

Thanks again, my friend. Always a pleasure.:)

This is yet another exciting and interesting poem that the author has created with this piece of work. I love watching wildlife programs too. The eternal struggle between the animals is a very exciting thing to watch.
