I resonate with the message of your poem Brooke, it is true not everyone is lucky to have a family like Sawyer. The picture of a happy family says it all, and your poem captured the emotion perfectly. God bless.

Beautifully written and presented. You are indeed blessed, but so is your family. Foe once, Sawyer didn't look too happy. Always war regards, Bill

Your poem is wonderful and heartfelt. And all children should have such a wonderful, loving family. You certainly have a very beautiful family. Good luck in the contest. Evi

Hi Brooke,
Excellent blending of the two forms. I love the message, all children, all people in fact, just want someone to love and care about them. It should be a natural blessing for all.
Beautiful picture of a happy family to compliment your verse. You know your rhymes and rhythm are solid, but I guess it is good to hear it sometimes. I admire your ability to make it seem so effortless.

A very fine acrostic with the theme of the words permeating the lines! It's a lovely picture that you choose for this too, Brooke! I love the lines at the end:

Love shouldn't have to be beseeched,
Yet for some, it's out of reach.

Very impressive and good luck in the contest! Best wishes, Pete :)

What a lovely poem, good luck in the contest. I just can't understand why some kids don't get a break and get a family that wants, loves and cares for them.

Bina, you can't understand because there's nothing to understand. It is totally random and unjust. No kid ever in the whole history of the world has ever deserved being mistreated or neglected or orphaned. Brooke

Cool, Brooke. I remember you talking about your daughter's family, and there they are. Great to see a happy family, like you mention in your poem. So many are dysfunctional these days.

As for the poem itself, stellar as usual.

How clever you are. You have crafted a brilliant statement of familial love and then topped the whole thing of with a cherry on top, a beautiful photo of a very happy family. Great work Brooke.

Dear Brooke, Their happiness just beams from their faces. It truly is a gift from God. Your poem helped show that emotion. Wes and Vanessa are not together and Gracie is passed from one to the other during the week. Now she is still very happy but I wonder how long it can last. I am so happy for your family. Beautiful poem, Best of luck in the contest, Shirley

This is really a great poem about love of family. So often we write about romantic love and its disappointments and heartbreaks. This is a great way to capture the very first love, and that's the love of family. Without that, love is cripple throughout other relationships.
