This is a precious picture of Sawyer, playing in the sunlight, at the water's edge. The poem is written in ab,ab
form and done with the careful adherence that is always true
in in poems of adewpearl. She adheres closely to the formality
in all of her poems, even in such a subject of a busy little
boy.

Father Sun kisses Sister Moon as she goes to her rest. Wot is a Banff vacation? I enjoyed your quatrains and given time, so will Sawyer. Well done little plum.

Thanks so much, Kay - Banff is a beautiful town and park in the Canadian Rockies - mountains, glaciers, waterfalls, lots of wildlife like elk :-) Brooke

Wow! We see on TV all about Canada, I would love to see it. Have you been there? I just posted a new poem. :-)XX

I've only been to Montreal and to Niagara Falls, never to the Rockies :-)

Hi Brooke
Young Sawyer looks like he is on a mission, an early explorer mapping rivers. He has a determined stride there, a real purpose. I love the picture, Bow Falls at Banff, what a spot for a vacation! He's a lucky boy to have such good parents. It's beautiful.
I like the way you portrayed Sunshine and moonbeams in great personification.
"Sunshine and I had a play date today"
and,
"Moonbeams were weary from playing all night --
they were content when we tucked them in tight."
This is my favourite line,
"moon tucked away on the highest of shelves"
Nice teacher for kids,
"moon plays by night and sun during day"
Good lines at bedtime,
"When we grew weary, we crept into bed,
leaving the moonbeams to play in our stead"
Kids grow up so fast, don't they? Our Alyssa is already 8 1/2 months, just started crawling and standing while holding onto her playpen or the couch.
Thanks for sharing this poem and picture. I enjoyed both.
your fan,
Kimbob

Kimbob, thank you so much - I so appreciate your thoughtful comments. I was just talking to Miranda - in true Sawyer fashion his favorite part about the vacation was playing with the hotel phones. LOL Brooke

I love how you personify the moon and the sun. This poem is just too cute, and so is the picture of Sawyer. I hope you are enjoying your day.

Hi, :-Brooke,
"Sunshine and I" is truly superior poetry with excellent rhyme, meter, and rhyme scheme followed consistently. It has an excellent structure of quatrains of rhyming couplets. The imagery is excellent with such as "moon plays by night"

The first line was the hook and it pulled us quite willingly through the rest of these innovative ways telling us about fun in the sun. Nice job.

It looks like sunshine, water, and abundant oxygen. A day of happiness enjoying all three. Unusual rhythm, home made, but made for an interesting read. Kenny

I love this poem! It is very well written and reminds me of my childhood days at play. I like how you give equal time to both day and night. :)

Sometimes you make me want to be a child again with these so immaculately written poems for children. Simple, effective and to the point. Need I say more?

The photograph looks a lot like Northern California, where we are now and where we have the internet back! I enjoyed your abundant use of personification and your rhymed couplets. Your "play date" concept tickled me. Hugs- Joan

Joan, so glad you have the internet back. This is from Banff where they enjoyed the past week. They arrived back in Encino last night with Sawyer sound asleep :-) Brooke

Kids usually travel well, lulled by the car's engine and tired from using extra energy on new discoveries. Smiles- Joan
