Wow, what a powerful write this is, and it's not all surprising it won the contest. You were lucky to have final words from your mom. Mine went quickl y from a stroke, but I still had her final words to me. She had left me a letter at the top of her keepsake box. It said, "Phyllis, to be opened upon my death." She said exactly what I already knew, but it was good to see it in her lovely handwriting. I will have to write my daughter a letter, and also my "adopted/kidnapped" son... and my hubby as well. IT's not time to write them yet... I have some time left to enjoy life.

Never to late to write it. However, I haven't wrote a specific one to my kids yet. I have wrote poems for them though. Thanks for your awesome review. You made my day.

Congtrats! A touchy real life story narrated very well. I would have liked the story end with the penultimate line 'Her family are her roses' being the last line. 'And she is their thorn' - the last line in the story somewhat seems to dilute the emotions. You are the author and the winner. So you have the last say. Very well deserving win!

Congtrats! A touchy real life story narrated very well. I would have liked the story end with the penultimate line 'Her family are her roses' being the last line. 'And she is their thorn' - the last line in the story somewhat seems to dilute the emotions. You are the author and the winner. So you have the last say. Very well deserving win!

She has been their solid rock to their marriage tribulations.(their used twice, perhaps a solid rock might work better)
Through sniffles and tears, we hear the boys' (?need for apostrophe here)sigh a slight laughter through heartbreak cries of love. (a bit confusing)
When was the last time I've (I)embraced my mother?
They are waiting patiently, knowing we are in her final stage of her lifetime. (her used twice. perhaps THE final stage may work better)

I am crying ...my mum died of cancer but she couldn't speak...we did not get this closure...and I was 10000 miles away....I am sorry for your loss but happy for your gain....my mum was not religious....but you and your mum have heaven to aim for...what a joy

Oh please, don't hold back your tears of your mother. My healing comes from my writing and knowing that I am touching someone else. I love to hear the stories. I understand the heartbreak. I have always wanted to write this. This August marks the 15th anniversary since my mom has died. And I was finally able to write this. The reason I can write it now, is because I've dealt with it. Now I hope to reach out to others. Hugs and God Bless.
